Chapter 1134
Luffy greets and thanks Saul for helping Robin in the past, all the while talking like a yakuza, to the confusion of his crewmates. Robin introduces Luffy for him but Saul states he is aware of Luffy's reputation. Still, he is relieved that Robin was able to find the friends who would protect her like he knew she would, and she calls the Straw Hats her true friends, causing all of them (except for Luffy, Zoro and Jinbe) to cry their eyes out once more, saying they would die for her.

Saul greets the rest of the crew and commends them for reaching Elbaph before apologizing for his earlier prank, revealing that the woman who was calling for help earlier, Ange, is actually his assistant and she was in on the prank the entire time. Saul tells Luffy he is impressed he is now recognized as one of the Four Emperors and asks that he continues to protect Robin, to which he happily agrees.

Lilith then appears and flies over to Saul, though at first, Saul does not recognize her until Lilith introduces herself. Jinbe and Gerd then help deliver a large box to Lilith, which she instructed him to bring from Egghead, and when he asks what is in it, Lilith reveals it contains a perfect clone of Dr. Vegapunk, which is what he used to visit Elbaph twenty years ago so as not to arouse suspicion from the World Government. Lilith states she will not be able to extract the clone until she gets the necessary equipment, which is why she plans on building a new lab. Bonney, who was also there, asks Lilith if she will be able to help Kuma, and she tells her she intends to.

Some kids then peek out from behind a tree asking if Saul is done and if they can play now, and he tells them to go for it. Ange introduces herself to the crew and reveals the kids usually play by the Warrior Spring but the two of them told them to wait until after the reunion. She offers to give everyone a tour, but Luffy and Usopp immediately run off by themselves towards the Walrus School, which Saul opened up twenty years ago per King Harald's request. Ange offers to give the rest of the crew a tour while Saul takes Robin to the Owl Library.

Luffy and Usopp come across some giant children who want to play prisoners with the crew, but some other kids tell them to stop because they are not supposed to neither hurt humans nor refer to them as "shorties," and the kids relent. Usopp is confused by the kids' mellowness and asks if they are not supposed to be fighters, but the kids say fighting is dangerous. The Straw Hats get an explanation by the children's teacher, a woman named Ripley, whom the crew were unknowingly standing on.

Ripley tells the Straw Hats that the legends about fearsome giant pirates are all 100 years old; today giants are more peaceful as King Harald wanted the giants to trade with other nations rather than plunder, and though the giants considered him a revolutionary who wanted to change Elbaph for the better, he was ultimately slain by Loki, and as such the giants refuse to consider him their new king, thereby leaving the country without a ruler. While everyone begins the tour of the school, Ripley asks Luffy about his transformation, which she said reminds her of a legendary warrior from Elbaph's stories, as she is from the last generation of warriors from that time.

Robin and Saul, along with Chopper, Lilith and Bonney, visit the Owl Library. Saul explains that he went back to Ohara with Hajrudin to salvage the books. He warns Robin to be careful and sure enough, once she steps inside, the book in her hand grows to giant-size. Saul explains this is an unnatural ability of the library, but he is more thrilled to be able to share all of the knowledge he saved from the island with Robin, who is brought to tears to see all of her island's books.

Down in the Underworld, Loki chats with someone named Mosa and he asks them if the moment of fear they experienced still motivates them, which Mosa confirms. Loki muses how even though the two of them have never met face-to-face, he considers Mosa a friend, and declares if he were in Mosa's place, he would have destroyed everyone present. Though Mosa does not approve of Loki's violence, they are beginning to notice the essence of kindness coming from Loki's harsh words, which the disgraced prince vehemently denies.

While the other giants are celebrating, a bolt of black lightning strikes the nearby castle and a magic circle appears on the floor. Within the circle are two hooded figures: a man and a woman.

Chapter 1135
As Chopper and Bonney try reading one of the giant-sized books, Saul states that the owl overseeing the library is named Biblo, who is responsible for gigantifying any book that enters his domain. Lilith concludes that Biblo is able to do this with the power of the Iku Iku no Mi. Chopper expresses hope that there are medical books in the library, and Saul says there are. However, since they are native to Elbaph, they will stay giant-sized.

Meanwhile, Luffy sends one of the Sun World's swings extremely high into the air, frightening two giant children and Usopp riding on it with him. Nami beats up Luffy for scaring the children, who run to Gerd for comfort; Sanji is miffed seeing one of them give a lecherous look while pressed to Gerd's chest. Luffy expresses his disappointment in Elbaph's more peaceful culture to Usopp. While he agrees, Usopp says it is not a bad thing. Right then, however, Colon appears and swings his wooden sword at Luffy, which snaps in two upon striking his head. Luffy responds by leaping in the air and throwing an Elephant Gun punch into the ground in front of Colon. Usopp tries to calm Luffy down as the other giant children react in horror, but Luffy is impressed that not everyone on Elbaph is spineless while Colon is excited to have seen Luffy display his strength, jeering at his contemporaries while they do the same to him, referring to him as a delinquent and brute. Ripley then arrives to scold Colon, who is her son, for attacking Luffy, but also commends his first strike. Colon hands his mother the basket that Mato had him bring for her, and he tells the Straw Hats that his father is a human and former pirate.

Luffy's group goes to the Owl Library, and Robin says she will remain there for a while longer to talk with Saul during the feast. Lilith and Bonney also eschew the start of the feast to get their resident permits, and Franky decides to spend time studying the Treasure Tree Adam. Before everyone disperses, Gerd gives Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe Elbaph-style clothes to wear, and she and the crew sans Robin and Franky set off for the village.

At the Aurust Castle near the Western Village, a duo of giant guards confronts the mysterious hooded duo. The one with the messy light hair and bandages over their nose and mouth inquires about Loki's location. The guards refuse to tell them due to Loki's criminal status, and the hooded figure fires a round of rapid projectiles similar to bandages which causes one of the giants to keel over in burning pain. The hooded figure then states that they are ordering, not asking, the giants to divulge where Loki is.

At the Western Village, the Straw Hats arrive and the giants all immediately make a toast to them for helping many of their number and for defeating Kaidou and Big Mom. Luffy recognizes Stansen, who reminds him that they met in the Human Auctioning House on the Sabaody Archipelago; Stansen had promised to one day repay Luffy for freeing him from slavery. The elder Jarul, who is the oldest giant in the world at 408 years of age, arrives to the feast on a svarr. Luffy points out to Jarul that there is a sword lodged in his head; Jarul replies that his helmet stopped it, but it is noted that the sword is very close to cutting all the way through.

Chapter 1136
Luffy loves the meat Hajrudin got for him as Jarul comments how formidable the moose he hunted is, but Harjrudin states he will gladly risk his life for him. Jarul then tells Luffy that humans do not normally visit the Sun World of Elbaph; they usually think the Underworld is all the country really is and flee in fear of the ferocious animals. Meanwhile, Usopp is telling the Giants how he defeated Oars, who is a legend among the Giants for his viciousness. Other giants are amazed by Jinbe's skin color, though he states there are even more diversely-colored Fish-Men on Fish-Man Island. Some Giants say they want to see a mermaid one day, and Sanji gushes over how beautiful they are, but being surrounded by giant ladies is already setting his heart a flutter, prompting the various women to call him a cutie. Brook is also considered mystery to them since he is a living skeleton.

Nami is surprised that not many Giants have gone out to sea because she thought they were all pirates, just as Road is forced by Gerd to apologize for his earlier rudeness, even though Road seems to have developed masochistic tendencies in the process. Zoro waives it off, but makes it clear had it not been for Usopp, then Road would have died, causing him to fall over in fear while the other Giants laugh at him for not checking the Straw Hats' bounties prior. Even Gerd gives Zoro full permission to kill Road if he pulls a stunt like that again. However, Road does seem to mind seeing Gerd being so cold to him.

Road tries to defend himself saying that he was merely trying to follow the dreams of everyone in Elbaph: to be the Sun God and rule the world. Some Giants retort that the Sun God is not a ruler, but the God of Liberation, but others say he is the God of Destruction, and some the God of Laughter. Eventually a fight breaks out and Jarul explains to Luffy that Elbaph has a religious text called "Harley", and there have been many interpretations of it over the years as no one can properly translate it anymore. According to Harley, the world has actually been destroyed twice in the past, and in each case, Nika has been associated with it. Jarul tells Luffy that regardless of what Nika stands for, one thing they know for sure is that his presence indicates a great change in the world, and that is why those in power fear his arrival and try to erase his existence. Luffy realizes that this is the person Bonney was referring to on Egghead and Jarul describes him, which makes him realize everyone called him Nika when he changes into Gear Fifth, though he still has not connected the dots between Nika and his Devil Fruit.

The Giants tell Luffy that everyone idolized Nika growing up, and Jarul says Loki and Harald attempted to be like him in a sense. Luffy then asks if Loki is a good guy, but the Giants vehemently deny this. They tell him that even before he was born, Harald prophesized he would be killed by his own son, and shortly after Loki was born, he killed the family's lucky horse. The Giants also reveal that was the year Big Mom accidently killed Jorul and since then, Elbaph had been plagued with natural disasters and the loss of their queen. In addition, Loki made the Underworld his personal playground, killing and taming the ferocious animals that live there and then unleashing them onto the village, all when he was ten years old. The worst of Loki's actions was ultimately killing Harald, and Jarul's injury was a result of his attempt to stop him. The Giants then say this all happened about six years ago, and it was Shanks himself to stopped his rampage, which amazes Luffy, even more so when they tell him he was here just not too long ago.

On the outskirts of town, Zoro pulls Luffy off to the side after realizing he had been acting strange and is told of his meeting with Loki. Zoro tells Luffy that everything Loki told him had to have been a lie since everyone in Elbaph hates him, but Luffy really wants to see Shanks again and if Loki can tell him where, he wants to find out, but if he was lying he promises to beat him up. Zoro is not sure himself since he did not meet Loki in person, and ultimately, they decide to check out if what he says is true. Nami joins them so she can guide them as they take a Svarr to the castle to get the keys, but Luffy asks why Road is with them. Nami gleefully tells them that Road is her new servant now as she zapped him again, not that he seemed to mind, though she made it clear that even though they are navigators, he is to not get close to her again. Nami then asks Road if it would be okay if all of the treasure in the castle just "disappeared", and Zoro quickly realizes Nami's true intentions for joining them.

Meanwhile, in the Underworld, the two hooded figures are revealed to be members of the Knights of God, find Loki and try to recruit him to join their ranks. Loki refuses, saying he will not waste the only life he has to be garbage like the World Nobles. The woman, whose name is Gunko, tells her partner that all of the agents they sent to Elbaph to get information on him all disappeared after reporting a giant crow, but now that she has seen him in person, she considers him insolent and deserving to be killed. Gunko's partner, however, warns her not to be hasty, as a giant wolf appears behind them, and Loki commands the wolf to eat them.

To Loki's shock, Gunko easily subdues the wolf by using her clothes, which she unraveled like bandages, to wrap around the wolf's neck and dangling it in the air. Gunko asks Loki if he would reconsider his decision if she spared the wolf, but Loki tells the wolf to die in peace, and though he will be sad and angry, he will not quibble about his way of death, and instead he will channel these negative emotions to destroy the world.

Chapter 1137
Arriving at Aurust Castle, Road tells the Straw Hats that no one has set foot in the castle in the fourteen years since Harald's death, but the broken gate and lack of guards has him concerned. Zoro says it could not have been invaders since the gate was broken from the inside, but Luffy charges in anyway. Once inside, the Straw Hats are amazed by how huge the castle is, so much so that Nami figures walking through it is impossible, at least until Road starts carrying the three of them.

While walking through the castle, the Straw Hats notice some more damage to the castle, but Road explains that those ruins were the result of Harald and Loki's fight, the level of damage caused he says was inevitable between the two of them. The four come across piles of giant skeletons, where Road tells the three that Loki killed over a hundred soldiers, with the only survivors being Loki himself and Jarul, and since then the castle has remained off-limits.

Luffy notices one skull has large horns, which remind him of Oars, and Road tells him that some Giants had the blood of "Ancient Giants" coursing through them, though no pure-blooded ones exist anymore. They then see a portrait of King Harald, where Road calls him the best king they ever had because of his desire to connect Elbaph to the outside world. However, Road tells the crew that Harald also had ancient giant blood, but he chose to tear out his horns as he considered the ancient giants a relic of the "era of wars", which surprises the Straw Hats. Road then tells the three that the one person who hates Loki the most for killing the king is none other than Hajrudin himself, revealing him to be King Harald's other son.

Nami is surprised to learn they are brothers, but Road clarifies that they are half-brothers, as Hajrudin was born to a giant woman who was not the queen. He also reveals that Hajrudin's mother was not given permission to be queen herself as she was born in another kingdom, and in Elbaph they consider the blood of other giants mixing with their own tainting, prompting Nami to remark on how discriminatory the giants are. Zoro asks Road why he serves someone with "dirtied blood", and Road thinks back to when he first met Hajrudin, who offered to be his friend when he saw he could make maps, as Road did not have any friends as a child due to his hobbies.

Road tells the three that he considers Hajrudin an honest person, and even though he did not live in the castle due to his mixed heritage and his mother was despised by the others, Hajrudin endured it all and proudly proclaimed he would unite all of the giant tribes of the world and become the king of the giants, and Road wants to help him achieve that goal. That is when Luffy notices some giants laying on the ground.

Down in the Underworld, Gunko, who is revealed to have eaten the Aro Aro no Mi, starts attacking Loki using arrows she generates from her clothes. Loki tells her that the only reason he is taking the beating is because he cannot move, but Gunko's partner tells him it would not make a difference even if he could. Gunko is in disbelief that a commoner like Loki would reject their offer of divination as her arrows move around Loki's face. Loki deduces that the arrows signify where Gunko's attacks are going to land as she asks once again if he will join them, but Loki stubbornly refuses, and Gunko's attacks hit him as he knew they would. Eventually, Loki passes out from his injuries as Gunko's partner tells her to stop.

Taking off his hood, the man's name is revealed to be Figarland Shamrock, the son of Garling and a commander of the Knights of God. Shamrock tells Gunko to get in touch with Mary Geoise, as their plans are revealed to be bringing the giants of Elbaph under the thumb of the World Government by any means necessary.

Chapter 1138
Loki wakes up and asks Shamrock what his relationship with Shanks is since the two look the same. Gunko tells Shamrock he has no need to answer Loki's question, but Loki demands to know since pirates and World Nobles are polar opposites, and for Shamrock to have the same face as a legendary pirate like Shanks is bound to make anyone curious. Shamrock tells Loki that Shanks is his younger twin brother, and though he once returned to Mary Geoise, he ultimately preferred living in what Shamrock considers the "filthy" lower world. Loki declares that both brothers have earned his ire and once he gets his chains off, he will make Shamrock pay for attacking him while defenseless and for taking down his animal friends.

Furious with Loki's threat and not wanting to soil his own hands dealing with him, Shamrock instead draws his sword, which transforms into the three-headed dog Cerberus. Gunko creates a bird using her powers and the two of them depart while Shamrock leaves Cerberus to attach Loki, telling him that if he survives, he will be waiting for him, but a nervous Loki says even he cannot survive an attack from something like this and he angrily curse the World Nobles. Once in the air, Shamrock suggests they use the children as leverage against the Giants and asks Gunko to call for another knight.

At Aurust Castle, Luffy learns about who attacked the guards and refuses to believe that it was Shanks despite their similarities, and taking into account Shanks has visited Elbaph many times. Luffy, however, remains adamant that the attacker was not Shanks, but a lookalike, and Nami muses over how defensive he is of his hero, though Luffy states that this is natural. The guards then start thinking that the attacker was possibly his brother, and Luffy admits he never heard Shanks talk about his family before, having assumed he thought the Roger Pirates as his family, excluding Buggy. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure starts approaching the castle.

At Treasure Tree Adam, Franky learns that all the branches are from the tree, so it is not as rare as he thought. Ripley, who was with him, is surprised to learn how valuable the wood is outside of Elbaph and Saul refused to let Franky take pieces of it, which made him realize that the price of the tree comes from the fact that it is taken without anyone noticing. Franky then notices a mural on the tree, but Ripley calls them drawings made by children in the past, though it is considered a historical relic. Ripley believes the mural was drawn during the Void Century, which Franky decides to tell Robin about later. Still, the mural had some interesting images, namely not that many were giants, and the races depicted were shown working together, which is why Ripley thinks it is just a child's dream.

At the Owl Library, Saul shows Robin the Harley, and explains that all of Elbaph's myths and legends were inspired by the interpretation of the text, and it is why everyone thinks the Sun God has different personalities. Robin asks to read it and Saul grants her request, saying it is broken into three chapters and the third one describes the current world today and what will happen in the future. Saul also reveals that legends of Nika are scattered throughout the world, and the one common feature is that he always appears laughing to a particular rhythm he starts imitating.

In the first chapter, dubbed the "First World", reads "Within the earth there was fire. Mankind succumbed to greed and touched the forbidden sun. The enslaved prayed, and the sun god appeared. The earth god raged, and with its serpent of hellfire, shrouded the world in death and darkness. And they will never meet."

The second chapter, the "Second World," reads "Within the void there was breath. The forest god tamed demons and the sun spread the fires of war. Those of the half-moon dreamed. Those of the moon dreamed. Man killed the sun and became god, and the sea god stormed. And they will never meet."

The third chapter, the "Third World," reads "Within the chaos there was emptiness. The inconvenient remnants recall the promised day and hear the voice of the half-moon. The sun god dances and laughs, guiding the world to its end. The sun returns and brings a new morning. And they will surely meet."

As these chapters are shown, as is the mural Franky sees, depicting incredible drawings and conflicts symbolizing the three chapters.

Chapter 1139
The Straw Hats have so far been unable to find the key to Loki's chains. Road says the only people likely to know the key's location would be Jarul or some of the other elders. Luffy considers asking Jarul but Road warns him it would be a terrible crime, and Zoro says they have not fully decided to free him. The four then see the throne room, but when they enter they notice a magic circle on the floor, which Nami says was used in rituals for summoning demons, which freaks Road out. Luffy, however, says it looks familiar to him.

The four then hear a voice calling out to Luffy, saying they had been waiting to meet him. Road freaks out thinking it is a spirit and makes a run for it, only for a large axe to be thrown at him, cutting him off and causing him to drop everyone. Luffy and Zoro land safely while the latter catches Nami, and Luffy sees someone on the throne. Road recognizes the person as "Ya-san", a former pirate, and asks him what he is doing here. Ya says he sensed some abnormal Haki coming from the room but it is gone, and instead he meets the Straw Hats. Ya tells Luffy he heard about his victory over Kaidou and how he would like to visit Wano again, while Road explains to Luffy that Ya is Ripley's husband, and therefore Colon's father. Ya comments on how much giant blood Colon inherited so he was never really able to hold him in his arms, and right now Colon is twenty years old while Ripley is eighty, yet they are still young. Ultimately, Ya admits marrying a Giant is not worth it if his partner and child will outlive him.

Nami is surprised to meet someone who would actually marry a giant, but Ya jumps down to the group and explains that love is free, and there are tons of mixed races in the world, and even though they do not tend to last long, there are several people who are open to the idea. Zoro asks Ya who he really is, but he simply refers to himself as a "Preacher of Love". Luffy asks Ya if he knows where the key to Loki's chains is, but Road scolds him for just asking point blank. Ya, however, says he enjoys seeing other people cause trouble. He does asks Luffy if he knows what kind of person Loki is, as well as what he would do should the worst thing happen if he is freed. Luffy simply says he will beat Loki up and chain him back up, but Ya says the only person who was able to capture Loki was Shanks, and if Luffy goes in without knowing what Loki can do, it will spell trouble for him. Luffy, though, just starts walking away, having gotten bored of listening to Ya. Road tries to apologize to Ya for the disrespect, but Ya just smiles and thinks back to his time with Roger and how he tried to get him to be more aware of potential risks. Ya tells Road to push over the throne, which he does.

Back in the village, the giants tell Usopp that in the Roger Pirates, there were two people who were just as strong as Roger himself. Usopp figures one of those people is Rayleigh, but he does not know the other. Oimo reveals that one day, Roger needed to rest and he and another went up to a hospital in the mountains, but they were surrounded by enemy pirates. Roger's companion, however, defeated all of them by himself with nothing but two axes, and in doing so he cut down every tree on the mountain, which earned him the epithet "Mountain-Eater". This man is considered by many to have been Roger's "left-hand man".

In the castle, the group discover a hidden room filled with treasure behind the throne, which Ya discovered in his free time. Nami was initially thrilled to see it is a treasure room, but to her displeasure, when they arrive they find everything is gone, no doubt everything having been looted years ago. However, the key to Loki's chains are still there, which Ya says not even the thieves were willing to steal. Just as Luffy moves to get it, Ya gets to it first and tells Luffy that if he wants the key, he will have to take it from him by force. Usopp is then told that man they were telling him about has lived in Elbaph for almost twenty years, and it is none other than Ya himself, who is actually Scopper Gaban.

Chapter 1140
Luffy asks Gaban why he needs to fight him for the key and insists he just give it up, while Road is confused regarding his reason for doing so. Gaban simply taunts Luffy by asking if he cannot do it, and that persuades him to jump off Road's hands to challenge him. He tries to grab the key from Gaban's hands, but Gaban swiftly dodges him multiple times. Luffy tells Gaban he just wants to free Loki so he can return to the feast, but Gaban just tells him to take it then. When Luffy tries to grab it, Gaban jumps into the air and coats the key with Haki before bringing it down on Luffy, which damages him to everyone's shock.

Luffy emerges from the rubble, now enraged, and Gaban notices Luffy's straw hat, which he says looks better on him than the helmet he has. Luffy tells Gaban that the hat is a treasure he is holding onto for Shanks, but hearing that prompts Gaban to call Shanks a cheapskate for not truly giving Luffy the hat. Luffy becomes enraged by that comment and ignorantly tells Gaban not to talk bad about Shanks when he does not even know him. This causes Gaban to shove the key into Luffy's mouth and shove him into a wall. Gaban then bradishes his axes and performs an attack called Yasotakeru, unleashing a flurry of axe strikes. Sensing the danger, Zoro jumps to Luffy's aid, using his swords to block the attack, which destroys part of the castle. Seeing Zoro come to Luffy's aid has Gaban think he found a good crew.

Following that, Luffy goes into Gear Fifth as both he and Zoro prepare to fight him. However, Gaban announces he yields, causing Luffy and Zoro to crash. The both of them angrily demand he take this fight seriously, but Gaban says that the key is now in their possession, since it was now on the ground next to him. Road tries to tell Luffy who Gaban really is, but the latter asks him not to be too hasty. As Gaban leaves, he tells Luffy that if Elbaph is still intact, by the time they leave, they should visit him. However, Luffy and Zoro angrily refuse. As he leaves, Gaban thinks back to when Shanks spoke to him about Luffy, and Gaban asks why he should trust him, prompting Shanks to tell him to do as he pleases then.

At the Walrus School, some of the kids notice a weird-looking bird, but Ange does not see it. What the kids actually saw was the bird-looking construct Gunko made for her and Shamrock to land on the tree's branches. Once they do, Gunko creates the Magic Circle, but instead of summoning one of the Knights of God, she ends up summoning two: Saint Sommers of the Shepherd Family and Saint Killingham of the Rimoshifu Family. Interestingly, neither of them were expecting to be summoned as Sommers was still in his underwear talking about the food shortage, while Killingham was in a rush to be somewhere as he is late. The two finally realize they have been summoned to Elbaph.

While Sommers gets dressed, Shamrock asks why two were summoned when he just asked for one, and Killingham tells him it is because he is being summoned back to Mary Geoise as everything had been falling apart since the Levely. Sommers asks Shamrock what he is even doing here and if he was paying Harald's grave a visit, but Shamrock explains the situation to the both of them. Sommers says that they will not be able to stuff kids they take in a bag, while Killingham says those without the mark cannot travel through the "Abyss", meaning they will need to move them by ship. Shamrock, however, evilly tells the two of them that with their abilities, they can make a game out of kidnapping the children.

Chapter 1141
As the group leaves the castle, Nami complains that she was unable to find any treasure, which was the whole reason she joined in the first place. Road tries to get her not to say such statements around the injured guards as he tries to convince them that nothing has occurred. Elsewhere, Franky continues his tour of the Treasure Tree Adam with Ripley, where she explains to him that they live on the tree's enormous branches. They come across a severed branch and Ripley explains there once was a village called Haugen on that branch, and it was destroyed when a bolt of lightning struck the branch and it caught fire, and since it was so old, the fire would not stop, causing the rest of the Giants to cut it down to prevent it from spreading. Franky is surprised to learn such a strong tree can get old and weak, with Ripley saying Elbaph's main weak points are fire and lightning.

Back at the feast, a now befuddled Usopp asks Nami where she has been and where Luffy and Zoro are now, and she simply answers they are exploring. Usopp introduces Nami to Jarul, who calls her a beauty, and Usopp asks him what his type of woman is. Jarul tells Usopp that he likes older women, but Usopp hits the sword in his head claiming that such a woman does not exist, because he is the oldest giant in the world. Dorry scolds Usopp for hitting Jarul like that, but Usopp drunkenly claims he is brave enough to remove it, with Brogy saying that if he does Jarul, will most likely die from blood loss. Nami comments on how drunk Usopp has got, saying that he had been wanting to go to Elbaph for a long time, and now he finally accomplished that task, which is why he is partying so hard.

Sanji then notices that Gerd is absent, as it is shown that Road brought the injured guards to her for treatment. Gerd asks Road to explain what happened to them, but Road claims he simply went to the castle to get some inspiration for his block set when he saw the damage. Gerd suggests they wake up the guards to they can find out who attacked them, but Road nervously asks her to let them rest. Gerd then says they should consult with Jarul, but Road says that would be a bad idea, as bringing unconfirmed fears during a feast would ruin the mood. It turns out the reason why Road is so worried about Gerd finding out the truth is because he does not want to be treated as an accomplice to Luffy setting Loki free, even though deep down he wishes Loki would leave Elbaph and never return. The knowledge of the Shanks "look-a-like" does concern him though, but Gerd then attacks him as she demands he tell her the whole truth.

Down the Underworld, Luffy and Zoro see the beaten up animals and Loki, which concerns them. Luffy asks Loki to tell him what happened as he tries to unlock his chains, reasoning that with him so hurt, he would not be able to do any damage. However, because the chains are made of Seastone, Luffy quickly loses his strength. Zoro tells Luffy they should not set him free yet, as he is still suspicious of him, based on all the bad rumors about him and if he does start rampaging, it will spell trouble for Elbaph. However, Luffy wants to get him treated for his wounds. Zoro proceeds to kick Loki's wounds, which causes him to scream in pain, confirming to Zoro that Loki is not putting on an act, to the Giant's annoyance.

Zoro agrees to help unlock him, but he suggests they leave one shackle attached to him so he cannot use his Devil Fruit powers, and if he wakes up, then they can get answers. Luffy decides to go get Chopper, but Zoro tells him he would be too far away, so their best bet would be to have Gerd treat him. However, if they find out they set Loki free, they might get banished from the country, but Luffy says he will accept that fate as long as Loki is okay. Luffy says he should at least get him some meat to regain his strength, but Zoro points out all the injured animals and suggests they eat them, but Luffy angrily tells him that they are his friends and he will hunt somewhere else in the mountains.

Just as Luffy runs off to get a doctor, he sees all of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, with Sanji accompanying them, falling down from the sky, as Gerd got the truth out of Road and informed Hajrudin. Unfortunately, because the Svarr they are using is unable to function properly due to the Underworld's different climate, everyone starts falling to their deaths. Luffy manages to save everyone using Gomu Gomu no Fusen, though they still get hurt after being launched off of him. Hajrudin then begs Luffy not to free Loki, calling him an untrustworthy and cruel man who tricks others by playing the sympathy card. Sadly, they came too late as Loki's chains were removed and he surprisingly stands up despite his injuries, as Hajrudin begs him to let go of his weapon, Ragnir.

Chapter 1142
The children at Walrus School start calling the teachers for help, as a giant snake called Jormundgandr has appeared and has started tearing up the school. The math teacher, Blade, tells the teachers in the faculty room that a giant snake supposedly from the Underworld has somehow appeared in the Sun World. The school's principle, Kiba, says they need to call the chiefs, but Ange asks who will protect the children in the meantime. Kiba ends up running out and attacking the Jormundgandr with his hammer, while Saul runs along a branch above the beast and delivers the finishing blow.

The children are amazed to see that the rumors of Kiba being a former warrior is true, while others marvel at how strong Saul is. Robin and Chopper, who came with Saul, are surprised to see a serpent so large just as someone yells that the gym teacher, Wolf, has been badly hurt. They ask Wolf what happened to him, but he is more concerned about the children, while other one reveals that some have wandered off somewhere. Saul starts running after the children, but Wolf warns him not to touch them as he learns they are heading to the beach, but for some reason they are all sleepwalking, following one of Gunko's arrows. The teachers decide to blow the horn and warn the entire country, but Saul fears that would be too much, only for Kiba to show him something in the forest, which are giant monsters, prompting the horn to be blared. Ange then tells Saul that the children are passing out one at a time, so Chopper decides to take a look at them.

In the Underworld, Loki tells the Straw Hats that just because they left one Seastone shackle attached to him, it does not mean he is without power. He threatens them to undo the last shackle or he will destroy Elbaph. To demonstrate his power, Loki hits the tree with Ragnir, bringing down a lightning bolt that starts a fire on the south side of the island. The giants partying are informed of this and immediately move to extinguish the fire.

Back at the Walrus School, Ange tells Saul she recognizes the monsters they saw; earlier today, she gave the children an assignment to draw what they fear the most. Some children drew Loki because they fear he will destroy the world, while others drew Nika for the same reason. Others drew the wolf Fenrir, storms, ghosts, and Jormundgandr to name a few, and one of the children, Ylva, tells Ange she will have nightmares if she keeps thinking scary things. Ange apologizes but is impressed by the level of creativity and imagination that the children displayed with the assignment. In the present, Ange explains that the monsters are what the children drew and represents their fears, which they do not think is possible, yet here they stand witnessing a child's worst nightmare.

Above the tree, the Knights of God observe the events, with the exception of Shamrock. Killingham, who was somehow responsible for creating the creatures, says the time limit for them existing is the amount of time it will take for the kids to reach the ship, and he asks if the others will find out the truth by then. Sommers says to know love is to wound someone else, and he asks Gunko what she fears the most, to which she responds she fears Nika the most.

Chapter 1143
Saul runs over to the sleepwalking children and tries to wake them up as Robin warns him to be careful, reminding him that Wolf warned him not to touch the children. Saul says he does not see anything wrong with them and tries to grab Ylva, but when he reaches out to her, he gets stabbed by invisible thorns surrounding her. Ange contacts the partying giants and informs them about the bizarre situation going on and that the sleepwalking children are following Branch Route 8, which is where the fire Loki started is. The fire-fighting Svarr immediately mobilizes to stop the fire, but on their way, they get attacked by one of the nightmares, knocking them out of the sky, to everyone's shock.

While the Knights of God are enjoying a meal while watching the chaos, Sommers laughs at how shocked the giants were when they got stabbed by the invisible thorns he created, as he has eaten the Iba Iba no Mi which allows him to generate them. Sommers describes it as a representation of the phrase "even love has its thorns", but Gunko reacts with indifference. Sommers explains to Gunko that love is what will draw in the people who care about someone despite the thorns surrounding them, and the best part about this game for him is imagining the parents attempting to hug their children only to be stabbed by his thorns and the children breaking down in tears over watching their parents scream in agony. Gunko, however, still shows no interest, to Sommers' chagrin.

Killingham asks Gunko which route she picked and she explains she picked the one that would lead straight to the village's sea clouds, with Sommers adding that it stands out well enough that the giants can see their futility in trying to stop them. Killingham then tells Sommers he needs more salt, causing him to imagine it. Killingham then lulls Sommers to sleep and extracts the salt from his dream, as he had eaten the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, which allows him not only to transform into the mythical being, but manifest people's dreams as well, explaining the monsters that suddenly appeared. Sommers then wakes up and asks about the "Sleeptids" he extracted from the kids' minds, and Killingham explains he can do both at the same time. Gunko then says all they need to do is take one of the giant's boats back to Mary Geoise and their mission will be complete, causing Sommers to complain about how easy this game is. Gunko tells Sommers that trouble will definitely brew since the Straw Hats are in Elbaph too, but the three then notice the kids heading towards the fire, though they decide if they burn to death they can just find more children.

In the Underworld, Loki tells Hajrudin he cannot possibly stop him since he cannot lift Ragnir himself, and he once again orders the last cuff be undone before he kills all of the weaklings in the Sun World. Hajrudin agrees to stand down but Zoro warns him not to as Luffy prepares to attack Loki, knocking him down with a rather weak attack due to his injuries. After Loki collapses, Luffy and Zoro climb his body as the latter figures Loki was bluffing the entire time just to find somewhere he could collapse safely in secret. As Road suspects who it was that attacked Loki, Luffy begs Hajrudin to not let Loki die regardless of what he has done.

Gerd starts treating Loki's wounds and says it will take a few months until he is fully healed. She knows that if he is to make a full recovery he cannot stay in the Underworld, but she also knows the people of the Sun World will kill him if he is taken there. Luffy is surprised to see that the horns on Loki's head are real, which they say is a remnant of his ancient giant blood that he inherited from Harald. Saying that makes Hajrudin think back to his childhood and how Harald called both him and Loki his sons and how he hopes they work together to support Elbaph after he dies. Unfortunately, Loki looked down on Hajrudin for being weak despite being older than him and insulted him and his mixed heritage. This causes Hajrudin to draw his axe and attempt to kill Loki himself for his parents, but Loki tells him to either get over it or stop wallowing in his personal drama and see the situation for what it is.

At that point, Loki asks Hajrudin if he truly believes he killed their father purposefully like everyone says he did.

Chapter 1144
Ripley brings Franky to a ancient scientific facility coverd in vines and trees, which he finds rather out of place in a country filled with warriors. Lilith and Bonney greet Franky from within as they had found the place first, though it was actually due to the both of them getting lost. Ripley warns the two that she heard alarms in the distance and now she can warn them about potential dangers nearby, but Lilith tells Franky that by her estimate, this facility has been in Elbaph for three millennia, which Franky finds hard to believe, but Ripley supports this saying they have no record of this building. Regardless, Lilith decides to make the facility her new base of operations, but just as Franky asks to look inside himself, Bonney warns the both of them that something is behind them. That something is one of Killingham's MMAs which took the form of a lightning cloud with a face on it. At first Franky thought it was just something natural to Elbaph, but Ripley clarifies that the opposite is true.

In the western village, the large skeletal MMA, which is called a Draugr, begins its assault on the village, forcing the warriors to sober up to fight back. Unfortunately, both Dorry and Brogy are absent to give the giants commands as apparently they drank too much and ran to the bathroom. The giants prepare to move the Straw Hats away from the fight, but Usopp tells them they want to help, albeit very quietly. Colon is forbidden from fighting too despite his claim that he is a warrior and the son of Gaban, instead being told to take shelter with the rest of the children.

Finally, Nami tells Jarul about their expedition to the castle, and he learns from the injured guards about the Shanks lookalike and another one of them was using a strange power. Jinbe surmises it was the work of a Devil Fruit, and it is possible these large monsters are the work of these unknown intruders. Jarul orders that everyone in the country is informed of these intruders and to notify him once they are found, though Brook adds there may be more present, so Jarul tells them to warn there are at least two instead. Nami becomes furious that these people would abduct children in broad daylight and Usopp fears what the attackers will demand of the country once the children are their hostages, while Jinbe offers to help stop them. Jarul refuses, citing that the Straw Hats are their guests and they should hide somewhere safe instead. After the giants leave, Jinbe says if the intruders are human-sized like them, they would have a much easier time dealing with Usopp saying giants can handle the large monsters. Of course the country is too big to cover on foot for them, but Nami sees Colon dragging a bag of weapons. The four approach him and once he sees they do not plan on stopping him, he agrees to let them ride on his ship, provided they make him the captain.

Back with the Knights of God, the three of them hear the announcement that humans aside from the Straw Hats have been spotted, but they largely ignore it. Sommers sees Gunko listening to music and calls it her post-meal ritual, but she denies this, calling it something she just enjoys. Sommers says he prefers a live musical where he can shoot the person who flubs a note first, but he admits it is nice to carry a hobby with you before asking what song she is listening to, and surprisingly, she says she is listening to "New World". Sommers laughs and asks if Gunko is dissatisfied with the current world, only to be chastised by Killingham for making fun of other people's interests, which he apologizes for, but he then comments on the adults' attempts to save the children.

Saul equips himself with two shields to protect himself from the thorns, but though he manages to stop one of the children, the other bumps into the one in front, causing the thorns to hurt both of them, to the horror of Saul and the disgust of Robin. Robin tells Saul they should search for the source of these powers but he warns if they do not do anything, the children will walk straight into the fire. Saul grabs some rope and lassos one of the children from behind, but one of the MMAs, a Fenrir, prepares to attack, causing Saul to realize that the monsters are trying to keep anyone from interfering.

In the western village, the Draugr is finally brought down, but several warriors were injured in the process. Two other MMAs, a Nidhöggr and a Ghost, prove to be too much for the warriors, forcing everyone to flee. Suddenly, Dorry and Brogy appear and use a simultaneous Hakoku to destroy both of them and another MMA. The two apologize for being late as they were throwing up all the alcohol they drank to sober up, but now they are mad they wasted such good drink and are ready for payback. In addition, Gaban is present with the Giant Warrior Pirates, giving the villagers hope to win.
