Chapter 1145
Goldberg, Zoro, and Sanji go hunting for food in the Underworld and cross paths with a huge dinosaur called a "Groggysaurus". Goldberg uses his sentient shield, Nash, to block the beast's bite, while Sanji launches Zoro high into the air from where he decapitates the dinosaur. After they kill it, Goldberg tells the two that Groggysaurus meat is delicious, especially when it is stewed in alcohol. Sanji points out he did not bring any, but Goldberg explains there is a hunting cabin filled with useful cooking tools, and on their way back they can look for herbs. Zoro asks Goldberg why his shield is alive and if it is because of a Devil Fruit, and Goldberg reveals that Nash came to life after his father went on an expedition to kill Big Mom. In short, Nash is a Homie much like Zeus; he was surprised to find out that a Homie of his caliber was now subservient to Nami.

Back with Loki, he tells the New Giant Warrior Pirates and Luffy that he was attacked by the Knights of God, which surprises them. Hajrudin ponders if this was retribution for his past rampages out at sea, but Loki refutes this, claiming if he had gotten far enough out there to run into them, he would be king of the world already. Goldberg, Zoro, and Sanji return with the kill as the other Giants ready a fire. Once the meat is cooked, Luffy tries shoving it into Loki's mouth without letting it cool off, which burns Loki and makes him ask if Luffy is trying to kill him by reopening his wounds. Though Loki does eat the meat, he has trouble doing so laying on his back, and he starts to choke because of it. Luffy quickly grabs a cup of soup that was still boiling hot, and he accidentally spills it on Loki, burning him even more. Loki demands Luffy be kept as far away from him as possible, but Gerd gives Luffy a thumbs up for what he did.

Zoro begins to think that Loki is lying about the promise he had made to Luffy. Loki clarifies he is not, but still refuses to say anything about himself, because they have not removed the last of his shackles. Still, Loki admits he understands Luffy's feelings of wanting to reunite with his idol, as he too felt that way when he was younger, though he regrets he was only just a boy at that time. In a flashback, a young Loki wanted to join the crew of the Rocks Pirates, but Rocks refused to let him join. Loki even challenged Rocks to a fight only to get beaten badly. In the present, Loki laments he was born in the wrong era.

In the Sun World, Dorry and Brogy are doing their best to fend off the attacking Draugr and ghost MMAs. Gaban attacks one of them resembling Loki and easily defeats it, saying that he is glad these creatures are just children's nightmares, thinking if the kids met the real Loki they might actually be stronger. Gaban then senses the presence of the Knights of God and says if Elbaph is no longer safe, then the world is truly coming to an end. As for the firefighting team, the Giants are unable to put out the fire because of how huge it is. Saul, who had defeated the Fenrir MMA, asks the firefighters to pick up the pace because the children are almost at the flames. Gunko and Sommers watch and the latter asks the former if the children will wake up when they start burning; Gunko says they will wake up and cry for their parents before burning to ash, prompting Sommers to laugh.

Ultimately the firefighters are unable to extinguish the flames on time and the children start walking into the fire, with Saul chasing after them. All of a sudden, Jinbe uses a move called Umigumo Ipponzeoi to hurl a huge amount of sea clouds at the fire, successfully extinguishing it. Though the children are safe for now, they are still following Gunko's arrow. The Giant Warrior Pirates praise the firefighter squad for putting the fire out, even though the fighters knew it was not them. Robin suspects that Jinbe is close by as he gets back on board Colon's ship without anyone seeing him. Colon tells the Straw Hats that everyone at school dislikes him but that does not mean he will not help them when they are in need.

Just then, Gunko appears on the bow of the ship, musing how the school is not the only place to find a child as perky as Colon.

Chapter 1146
Jinbe surmises that Gunko is one of the human intruders that injured the castle guards, while Nami deduces she is the one who is kidnapping the children. Gunko, however, takes offense to being called a human and declares herself a "god", much to the confusion of the others. Nami and Colon demand Gunko tell them what she is planning on doing with the children and to give them back at once, but Gunko tells Colon to shut it while she explains that because the children are so large, they needed to do things this way, but she reveals they are going to take them to Mary Geoise. Jinbe asks if Gunko is a World Noble, even though Usopp points out how she looks different from the ones he has seen before, but Brook surprisingly deduces she is a member of the Knights of God, to the shock of the others and to the confirmation of Gunko.

Usopp asks if she is kidnapping the kids to make them slaves as Gunko has one of her arrows chase after him. Nami refuses to let Gunko take the children as she summons Zeus, who she then turns into a shark and sends at Gunko. Unfortunately, Gunko redirects Zeus back at her while saying that originally, the world as they know it was supposed to vanish without anyone realizing it, just as Zeus seemingly strikes Nami, only for it to be revealed to be Brook who shielded her. Gunko continues saying that a few people figured out the truth and warned the world as Usopp blasts her with his Pop Greens. To even his surprise, it looks as though he completely obliterated Gunko's upper half, but to everyone's horror, she regenerates as she says nothing can stop the countdown as she aims for Usopp, who figures the arrow signifies her target. Jinbe, Nami, and Brook try to redirect it away from him as Gunko declares that a vast war that will consume the world will begin, and whichever side the Giants take will greatly effect the war's outcome, thus explaining their desire to force Elbaph to join the World Government.

Nami refuses to believe such a thing could happen while Jinbe calls Gunko and the World Government cowards for trying this method. Gunko simply states she is just following orders, but with that said, she states she could not care less about the lives of the children, who she sees as just trash, prompting the Straw Hats to call her crazy. Colon steps forward to fight her but she wraps an arrow around his neck and starts carrying him away. Both Jinbe and Brook try to attack Gunko but she uses a move called Aloe to make their attacks hit each other and fall overboard. Gunko then kicks Nami off the ship before landing a devastating blow on Usopp.

Meanwhile, Sommers communicates with Killingham, who has just defeated Kiba and Ange, the latter's body having been immobilzed by Killingham's Min'ei-ka ability. Sommers tells Killingham that Elbaph's methods of communication are inadequate which he agrees with, but he states every village and important facility in the country has its own tool. He approaches a Dengo Mushi and tells Sommers to talk to it via the Den Den Mushi, which should transmit his voice all over Elbaph. Sommers says he will get to it once he finishes up his fight with Saul, who he is surprised to learn survived Ohara's destruction. Saul tells Robin and Chopper to remain hiding in his hair and not come out as he begs them to save the children, just as he collapses from his injuries.

Afterwards, Sommers voices his refusal to accept that the Giants are a peaceful race now; according to him, they should be using their incredible power to serve the World Government as mercenaries, but apparently, Harald changed all of that, which Sommers heavily resents him for.

Chapter 1147
Before Saul confronted Sommers, he told Robin and Chopper to stay hidden because he has encountered him in the past and knows he is part of the Knights of God, and that they are all immortal, which is why he wanted them to wait for the right moment to rescue the children. In the present, after Saul has collapsed, Sommers chides the Marines for their sloppiness in destroying Ohara. Gunko then meets up with Sommers along with the Straw Hats that she has captured and restrained with her powers. Sommers asks if they are taking them back as prisoners, but Killingham, who overheard, scolds Sommers saying that will only invoke Luffy's wrath, and they should just finish their mission and leave. Nami blames Jinbe for letting this happen as he tries to figure out a way to beat the knights, while Brook ponders where he has seen Gunko before. Speaking of, Gunko points a sword made of her arrows at him and demands he become her slave and write music for her forever. Though everyone was surprised to learn that Gunko is a fan of Brook's, he refuses as he has already sworn loyalty to Luffy. Gunko threatens to kill him if he does not rescind it, but Brook proudly states he will accept it, leading Gunko to beat him up, though she seems to grip her heart for some reason. Though Sommers tells Gunko he does not want to fight Luffy either, he asks Killingham if everything is set up, which he confirms.

Sommers addresses all of Elbaph and states that the strange occurrences happening is their work, and that he comes from Mary Geoise as one of the Knights of God. He announces that they have taken ten of their children as hostages and Saul has been badly injured for trying to stop them. Killingham asks for the names of the children from Ange as he wants their parents to know just as he wakes them up from their sleep. Once the children are awake, they figure they are on Branch 8, but are unable to stop walking or following the arrow. Colon, who was added to the bunch, informs everyone that they have all been kidnapped. All the children start crying wanting their parents, but Colon says that he is here and he will protect everyone, but even he is scared by the MMAs created by Killingham watching over them.

The Greak Eirik tries to turn around and rescue the children but the ship has a hole from one of the MMAs, which looks like a woman, even resembling one of the giants' wives. the Giants eventually realize that some of the MMAs actually do resemble their wives, and if these creatures are a children's worst nightmare, then it is possible they are afraid of their mothers when they are angry. In other words, the MMAs attacking the ship are angry mothers, which not even the Giant Warrior Pirates can fight back against. They all start apologizing for their mistakes in the past but the island clouds supporting the ship are torn away by them, and the ship ultimately crashes, which Sommers sees in the distance.

Sommers addresses Jarul as the boss of the Giants since they have no king, and he informs him that they want the Giants to become their slaves in battle, and that they are currently taking the children down Branch 8 as Ange announces the names of the kidnapped children, including Ylva and Olav, who is Oimo's grandson. Sommers then reveals that one child, Colon, tried to be a hero only to be added to the bunch, to Ripley's horror. Sommers' demands are that they destroy their schools and libraries and swear loyalty to them, but Ange retorts that their school represents Elbaph's current state of peace while the library contains Elbaph's ancient history as well as the knowledge of the world saved by the people of Ohara, and to them they are both sacred treasures that does not just belong to Elbaph, but Sommers just tells her to calm down.

Gaban prepares to head out to rescue his son, while Robin decides to show herself, unwilling to let the knights destroy her people's efforts.

Chapter 1148
One of the children, Ronja, is separated from the group as she begins to walk on an arrow leading off the branch. At first, Ronja tried not to make a big deal out of it until she sees just how long the fall will be. She stops moving as Gunko, who had moved to the children's location, reports that the first child they will kill to get the Giants to fall in line is ready. Sommers tells Gunko to make it so all of Elbaph can hear Ronja's voice as he adds should the Giants not make a decision within the next thirty seconds, Ronja will fall to the Underworld to her death. Once again, Sommers demands that Jarul orders the school and library to be destroyed.

The other giants tell Jarul he cannot destroy the school, because the library contains the words of people from a thousand years of history. However, others argue that the children's lives are more important, while others say the biggest problem is whether or not they will comply with the Knights of God's demands and become the World Government's servants. As they all start begging for help, Robin decides to confront Sommers even though she knows she cannot do any lasting damage to him, but she finds herself unable to contain her emotions. Nami is outraged that the knights would go so far as to kill children claiming the world's worst criminals would not stoop that low, but her words are lost on Sommer's arrogant mind. Ripley, Dorry, and Brogy decide to split up to both take down the MMAs and rescue the children as Sommers continues saying when they burn the library, they are to leave the books in it too as they want to destroy their history and culture completely.

Robin attacks Sommers with Cien Fleur: Craspedia, which draws blood from him as she then restrains him with four arms to break his back. The Straw Hats cheer at first until Sommers fixes himself while telling Elbaph they have twenty seconds left. Robin then jumps onto Sommers and throws the both of them off the branch, telling him that while she is aware he is immortal and has Devil Fruit powers, she figures if she gets him far away enough, the children will no longer be surrounded by his invisible thorns. Sommers commends Robin for her clever thinking as he stabs her with his thorns, only to discover it was a copy and that he had been deceived.

The real Robin went to work trying to cut Gunko's arrows, but finds the knife cannot cut it, meaning they need to take Gunko down to break free. On top of that, Sommers saves himself using his powers and announces there are only ten seconds left as Gunko demands Ronja say something. Ronja tells Jarul that she loves school because it is where her friends are and she also loves the library, and one thing she has learned from school is to not cause trouble for other people and make them upset. Therefore, if they have to burn the school and library just to keep her from falling, she would rather fall to not make everyone sad, and she tells Jarul she will be okay since she is a lucky girl, even though she is crying. Still, Jarul orders Ange to burn the school and library, which she regretfully agrees to.

Robin is brought to tears just as Sommers returns and restrains her with his powers. Just as he is about to finish her off, his right arm gets cut off, and to his surprise, it does not regenerate. The culprit turns out to be Gaban, who Sommers recognizes just as Gaban deals a devastating slash across his chest with a look of pure fury on his face.

Chapter 1149
The restrained Straw Hats are amazed that Gaban was able to actually injure Sommers, who screams in pain as Gaban notes he has gotten rusty. Gaban then turns around and charges for Sommers, but Sommers uses his thorns to create a barrier to block Gaban's attack while he backs up. Sommers asks Gaban why he is in Elbaph but Gaban says he does not want to bore him with the answer. As they fight, Nami tells everyone that she met Gaban at the castle and how even Luffy and Zoro were overwhelmed by his power, and also that he is Colon's father. Robin identifies Gaban and Jinbe confirms he is considered Roger's "left-hand", while Brook wonders why he is even here. Chopper watches in curiosity that Gaban dealt actual damage to Sommers as Robin offers to aid using her Devil Fruit powers even though she cannot move, but Jinbe warns her not to as Sommers can use thorns of iron, which will make for a bad matchup. Sommers then creates an entire field of thorns for which there is no safe spot to stand, but Gaban swiftly cuts Sommers in half before running of to rescue his son, leaving Sommers impaled on his own thorns. Chopper emerges from Saul's hair and starts chasing after him to figure out how Gaban was able to hurt Sommers.

Back at the school, Ange has reluctantly lit it on fire while Killingham sets fire to the library himself, to everyone else's sorrow. The giants tell Jarul to not blame himself for his decision as Gunko is informed that the buildings are burning, prompting her to tell Ronja to step backwards. Ronja, however, starts blaming herself for still being alive that the school and library are now burning, but the other kids and giants try to tell her that it is not. Gaban arrives at Gunko's position and angrily tells her that she has no right to take away anyone's culture, history, or even their children. Gunko sees him and says his defiance will mean she will kill the children as they all cheer for him to save them. In his mind, Gaban begs Colon not to say anything about their relationship, but it is all for naught as Colon calls him his father, which Gunko overhears.

Quickly, Gunko dodges Gaban's attack and threatens to kill Colon by driving her arrow sword into his neck. Gaban figures if he attacks fast enough he can put out the fires and save the children and all of Elbaph, and he yells to Colon to hang on and give him one second to end it all, citing him as a big and strong boy. Colon agrees as Gaban thinks back to the day Colon was born and how he called him the greatest gift he could ever receive. However, Gunko starts driving the tip of her sword into his neck, and Gaban uses his advanced Observation Haki to forsee that he will not be able to save Colon. As such, he drops his axes and surrenders, allowing Gunko to riddle him with her arrows while calling him weak. As Gaban falls off the branch, he apologizes to his son and Elbaph for failing as Colon tearfully calls out to him. Chopper dives off of the branch to go after Gaban.

As a result of Colon's cries, Gunko begins to recall a memory from her past involving Brook back when he was still alive that leaves her shaken. Brook, meanwhile, muses over how similar Gunko looked to someone in his past as the crew try to get him to focus on escaping. Realizing that "Soul King" is Brook, Gunko immediately starts running towards his position, but is stopped by Imu, who communicates with all three of the knights telepathically demanding to know why they are taking so long to recruit the giants because the Holy Land is currently burning and they need the strength of the giants now.

As Imu possesses Gunko's body, they declare they will demonstrate the power of a god.

Chapter 1150
The parents of the children arrive at their location as Colon tells them that Gaban fell down into the Underworld, and to watch out for "Gunko". One gets close enough to try and help, only to be stabbed by Sommers' thorns. Imu hears the noise they are making and unleashes a blast of Supreme King Haki that knocks the children unconscious and some of the giants, though not all of them. Imu then sprouts devil-looking wings and a tail along with a trident, to which they draw a magic circle and summon cannons to blast the giants away.

Imu asks Killingham if this is the limit of what his MMAs can do, but Killingham states that the "Nightmare Hole" he spawned them from is still open, allowing them to manifest from every nightmare on the island, and on top of that, since they have no concept of death, he can command them to be revived whenever. Imu contacts Sommers, who has put himself back together despite being in pain, and tells him to oversee the kidnapped children. Jinbe notices that Gunko seems different from before as Robin asks where Luffy is, only to be told that he, Zoro, Sanji, and the New Giant Warrior Pirates are all down in the Underworld and have no idea what is going on. This prompts Robin to use her powers to try and free herself, seeing it as the better alternative to getting captured at the end.

Imu says that their problem now is how to best utilize the children if Elbaph has no king, and they decide to make Dorry and Brogy the new kings of the country. Brogy angrily grabs Imu as the giants charge to back him up, but Imu remains unfazed and tells Brogy that he will kill Jarul and announce to everyone on the island that the two of them are the new kings, all the while they summon a grimoire and conjure forth a shotgun that they use to blow off Brogy's hand to free themselves, though interestingly, no blood comes out. Imu tells Brogy that they will bestow onto them the "Power of Evil"; they create a magic circle underneath Brogy's feet and tell him that in exchange for some of his lifespan, he will receive immortality and phenomenal strength, and by being bound to them, he will lose all sense of reason and logic and obey only them, because according to them, only demons are the proper form for life to take.

In an instant, Brogy starts sinking into the ground as Imu lifts the circle off the ground with Brogy coming out the other end, and when he does, he becomes a ferocious demon, larger than any of the giants and equipped with devil wings like Imu and able to use his severed hand despite the wrist being gone. The giants demand their captain back but Brogy swats them away. Dorry is transformed as well and order his men to help him kill Jarul, but they resist for the sake of their country. Unfortunately, several others are swallowed up by Imu's A Coeurl and transformed into demons, with those still normal being forced to flee.

With several demonic giants and Killingham's MMAs behind them, Imu muses that the power of Elbaph is quite promising, but they announce they will not destroy the country for they still need it, but it will be ruled by them, though they would like to see just how useful the giants will be in war. Jarul, meanwhile, is told by the others to flee, but Jarul says a warrior never runs from a fight.

Chapter 1151
Kashii begs the transformed captains to not kill Jarul because he is the world's oldest living giant and a hero of legend, but Brogy says it is because he has become so old now that they must kill him, and Dorry announces that once they do the both of them will take their places as Elbaph's new kings and bring about an era of war and ruthlessness. The giants try to contain the two of them but some of them get transformed into demons because of how close they are the two, prompting the rest to retreat. Ripley overhears that Gaban had been taken down by the enemy and starts rushing to her son's side. Unfortunately, the captive children are asleep once again, so Killingham (now in his hybrid form) can manifest more MMAs. He also starts reviving the ones that were downed previously, saying that now that Imu has taken the stage, he has no need to hold back. The captive Straw Hats watch as the country descends into chaos while the giants continue to try and save the children, with some of their mothers stepping in. Sommers asks Imu how long will this carnage last, and Imu declares they will go until the country's spirit breaks, also adding that if Harald had not messed up in the past, they would've conquered this country by now.

A few minutes earlier, Chopper curses himself for jumping off after Gaban without a plan, but he manages to get ahead of him and use Guard Point and save Gaban from the fall. Elsewhere, in the Underworld, Loki tells Hajrudin to beg him for answers regarding their father, but Hajrudin refuses. Luffy then senses that Chopper has landed somewhere, but even he does not know how he could tell it was him. Loki also senses them and the group decide to go out and find them while Gerd and Goldberg stay to watch over Loki. Loki tries to convince the two of them to unlock his chains but they refuse, just as Mosa contacts Loki. Mosa tells Loki that they will not be able to call him for a while, but they tell him that their conversations always helped him, which they wanted to thank Loki for. Mosa's words make Loki think they are in danger, but Mosa denies it as they hang up, leaving Loki worried. Gerd, who heard everything, tells Loki she is happy he found a friend to keep him company while stuck in the Underworld, but Loki tells her not to say a word about it.

Hajrudin and Luffy's group return and the former tells Gerd to get her medical supplies ready. Luffy tells Gaban that he is fortunate that Chopper was the one to save him, just as he is finally told Gaban's true identity as a member of the Roger Pirates, which leaves him stunned. The giants also tell the Straw Hats that Gaban and Rayleigh were considered Roger's "wings" and that Gaban was the third strongest of them, with Zoro coming to understand how Gaban was so strong when they fought him earlier and Luffy figures that Gaban does indeed know Shanks. Gaban does wake up (to which he retorts he considers himself the second strongest), and Chopper informs everyone about what is transpiring in the Sun World.

The group then sense Imu's immense burst of Haki, which leaves Gaban worried, and Hajrudin orders his crew to get back on the lift to return to the Sun World, with Luffy prepared to join in the counterattack. Loki, meanwhile, laughs that the immense Haki they just felt means they are going to have to set him free after all.

Chapter 1152
The New Giant Warrior Pirates, with the exception of Hajrudin and Gerd, start preparing a lift to take everyone up to the Sun World. Chopper asks to stay behind so he can treat Gaban's wounds, which Luffy accepts. Gaban then tells Luffy that the Knights of God are not immortal, and that the trick to defeating them lies in how he uses his Supreme King Haki. Luffy thanks Gaban for this info and promises to save his son and everyone else, while Loki thanks Gaban for his explanation as it allows him to better utilize his power. Once again Loki asks Hajrudin to take off his cuffs, but Hajrudin refuses. Gaban then tells Luffy that there is someone else in his crew who can use Supreme King Haki, and though Sanji assumes it is him, Gaban was actually referring to Zoro, who surprisingly, had no idea he could use it, while Luffy knew all along because he can sense it off of him while surprise that Zoro did not realize it. Gaban chides Zoro for his obliviousness, stating that he needs to be able to control it consciously if he is to continue supporting an Emperor like Luffy, which Zoro sheepishly apologizes for while Sanji ask Gaban if he also had Supreme King Haki.

Loki expresses his outrage that Hajrudin would rather have outsiders save Elbaph rather than him, but Hajrudin does not believe Loki would not betray them to join the World Government after he already betrayed the country in the past. Luffy tries to end the quarrel by inviting Loki to join his crew, that way Hajrudin would have no choice as a member of his fleet. Zoro and Sanji quickly reject his idea, as he is too big to fit on the ship and eats more than Luffy, but Luffy figures it would work out because Elbaph already does not want him and he seems like a fun person. Loki, however, is also against the idea of becoming someone else's subordinate, and while Hajrudin takes note of Luffy's instincts to trust him, he ultimately refuses to let him join his crew as he is already condemned for death.

Before Hajrudin and Luffy make for the lift, Gaban orders Hajrudin to set Loki free, but Hajrudin asks why citing all of Loki's crimes in the past. Gaban reveals to everyone that on that day, he and Shanks were in Elbaph the day Harald was killed, where they sensed an abnormal Haki, though they did not see everything that happened. This causes Hajrudin to order his crew to go without him while Luffy tells Zoro and Sanji to head on too so he can hear more about Shanks. After they leave, Gaban tells Loki to explain the whole story, and Hajrudin gives him three minutes to tell him the absolute truth. Loki ultimately agrees, though he warns it was a horrible day.

Fourteen years ago, Loki and Jarul were summoned to Aurust Castle by Harald. Loki ponders what his father wants, saying he has no interest in listening to someone who serves the World Government as they were the ones who killed Rocks. Jarul warns Loki to keep his voice down, but Loki states that that laid-back attitude he has is exactly why Elbaph is filled with children who prefer peace over fighting, even though Jarul says he has no issues with the age they live in now, as long as his children are okay. The two then hear a noise coming from the throne room just as they reach the door, which Loki kicks down in order to see his father. To both his and Jarul's horror, though, they see Harald being stabbed by his own men. Elsewhere, at Gaban's house, Gaban and Shanks were relaxing in a bath made for them by Ripley. The two reminisce over how much time has passed for the both of them as Shanks says even though he wanted to form a crew with Buggy and live a laid-back life, he finds Elbaph has much more to teach him. Gaban, however, calls Shanks a "child of fate" so he should not sweat over small details. After the two finish their bath, Gaban asks Shanks if he knows anything about Harald, and he reveals he met him in Mary Geoise, and though they got along well, he figured there was something the two of them could not talk about there, and he hoped to talk about it here before it is too late.

A flashback begins 109 years ago to explain how Harald become so beloved by his people. Back then, the Giant Warrior Pirates were considered the most fearsome pirate crew to exist, but one thing that scared the people of the outside world more than them was Harald, who became king at forty-five (only fifteen by Giant standards), himself, because back in his youth, Harald was a complete jerk who enjoyed messing with humans and his own subordinates for fun.

Chapter 1153
As a prince, Harald spent his childhood with Dorry and Brogy, and his spoiled and violent personality later in life was due to his immense size, strength, and noble heritage, which made him think he could do whatever he wanted. One day, he sailed by a kingdom in the New World where he saw a female Giant named Ida being used as an attraction in a circus. Believing she was being mistreated, Harald destroyed the town and took Ida with him on his ship, but to his shock, Ida slapped him and demanded he turn around and go back to the kingdom. Ida explained to Harald that the people of that town in fact saved her when she was washed ashore, and she was working in the circus as a job to repay them for their kindness. She angrily told Harald that he considered humans "tiny" because he was simply larger than others, and it was that arrogance of his that gave Giants like her a bad name.

Ida's words humbled Harald immensely, and he agreed to turn around and help the people. While he and his crew helped repair the town and apologize for his actions, Harald came to enjoy his time with the humans because he learned so many things. Ida also reveals that she was born in a different country, and not in Elbaph as he and the townspeople thought, so Harald invites Ida to come back with him to Elbaph, as he had fallen in love with her, and she too for him, to the astonishment of the crew.

Many years later, Harald announced his plan to journey around the world and atone for his past misdeeds by establishing connections to other countries and letting them share their knowledge with them. Of course he is aware that Dorry and Brogy are still out there causing trouble, but he reasons they will not hurt humans because of their honor, though he promises to reign them in if they become too much. As the years passed Harald proceeded to meet various people and deepen his relationship with Ida. Eventually, Ida gave birth to their child, Hajrudin, but unfortunately, Harald is forbidden from marrying Ida officially and making her queen due to her not being born in Elbaph, though Ida accepted this and agreed to live in a nearby village with Hajrudin.

The woman who Harald would ultimately marry was a woman named Estrid, who came from a village in the north and studied geomancy, though her obsession with omens and signs made her come off as enjoying luxury more than wanting to bring good fortune. Many years later, while Harald was off at sea sharing his knowledge of navigation with other countries, Estrid would give birth to her and Harald's son, Loki. When Estrid saw Loki's unusual eyes, though, she was repulsed and called the infant Loki a cursed monster, while ordering that the kingdom be informed that Loki was stillborn. Estrid then tossed Loki into the Underworld while ordering others to claim she did not bear a child, while also making plans to return home so that she does not give birth again. To her displeasure, she learns that not only did Loki survive after being thrown out, but he also started climbing the tree back to the Sun World.

Sometime after Loki was born, Estrid fell ill, and on her death bed she claimed that Loki must be eliminated as she has "foreseen" that Harald will be killed by him one day (though no one believed her at the time). In addition, Harald started to struggle with diplomacy because of the World Government, and all of these struggles that Elbaph would face were ultimately blamed on Loki's "curse".

Chapter 1154
During the year that Charlotte Linlin killed Jorul, Elbaph was plagued with recurring disasters that made it impossible to grow food or catch fish. Estrid continued to claim that these disasters were a result of Loki's "cursed" existence and have continued because they did not eliminate him when she ordered it, but several giants were more inclined to believe it was all just a coincidence. The infant Loki tried to get close to his mother, but Estrid refused to see or acknowledge him, leaving the baby devastated.

The recurring disasters led to Giants attacking each other for survival, resulting in more deaths, and as the spirit of the people began to break, it became easier for them to believe Estrid's words about Loki's "curse" as their hearts began to weaken. This drove a giant to try and kill Hajrudin because he is Loki's older half brother, thinking doing so will save them, and Ida as well for "seducing" Harald. Thankfully, Harald returned in time to save both of them. Harald informs his people that he heard about the disasters overseas and he asked the countries they are aligned with for help, and they responded with banding together to provide enough food for all of them, and in turn, Harald promises to provide aid when they need it as thanks.

Shortly after Harald returned, Estrid finally passed from her illness, but she continued to deny her son to the very end. As such, the people believed Estrid died from Loki's "curse", and by the time Harald could hold Loki himself, he had become forced to wear bandages over his eyes, the guards claiming he had a "condition" that affected his eyes. In addition, Loki did not smile in the presence of his father, as he had already given up on the idea of love, though Harald never seemed to know what Estrid did to him. Though Harald's diplomatic mission paid off and helped his country survive the long winter, it ultimately took up too much of his time, and Loki was forced to be raised by Estrid's brother, who hated him just as much as she did. As for Ida, she opened up a bar in the Underworld welcome to all to visit, hoping that it will aid Harald in his goals.

Seven years later, Harald spoke with Jarul in his home where he told him he was at the Levely thanks to someone sneaking him in disguised as a soldier, but the council refused to listen to him, and if it had not been for the "incident" that resulted in a death, his cover would have been blown and he would be imprisoned. Changing topics, Jarul asks Harald if he has ever heard of "Galleila", a group of giant shipwrights. Harald says he has, though he thought they were just a myth, but Jarul confirms they existed, but after sailing to distant shores they sent back a letter saying they had been captured, which perplexed him as some of them were ancient giants. Harald asks Jarul if he thinks the World Government was behind it, but Jarul is not sure; he knows their people had a great enemy in the past, but their history sank into the sea. The point that Jarul was trying to make with his story, though, was that he suspects Harald's inability to foster a good relation with the World Government is not due to him, but because of some ancient history between the two, as their people are seen as a threat to the rest of the world.

As time passed, Harald had eight branches built on Elbaph to unify the country and promote trading, while people's dislike of Loki continued to increase as the lucky horse was found dead and later his uncle, though there were some who acknowledged him as the country's prince instead of Hajrudin. Harald, however, had become known as the best king their people ever had due to his dream of connecting Elbaph to the rest of the world and making it safe for their kind to live peacefully. Whenever Harald left on his trips, Loki would attack the villages with an army of beasts from the Underworld. Hajrudin tried standing up to him saying he needs to respect their father's decision to work with humans, but Loki refused to acknowledge them and strikes Hajrudin for talking back to him. This led to the future members of Hajrudin's crew running to his aid, which causes Loki to call Hajrudin and his friends losers for trying to look after each other. Nonetheless, despite all the harm and chaos he spread, nothing Loki did could fill the hole in his heart his mother left with her cruel words. One day, Loki decided to kill himself by jumping from the Sun World to the Underworld but his strong body protects him, leaving him despair that he cannot die.

That same day would be the day Loki first met Rocks before he became captain of the Rocks Pirates, as he had come to Elbaph to visit Harald. It turns out the two had met earlier at the Levely, and the "incident" that took place there was Rocks killing an Admiral, which made him a wanted man. In a surprising twist, Rocks is also stated to be the father of Blackbeard, as his face is finally shown bearing resemblance to him.

Chapter 1155
Loki confirms that Rocks and his crew are on Elbaph while he muses that this is the first time he has ever seen humans. Rocks is surprised to learn that Loki is Harald's son and orders him to go home and have someone contact Harald to tell him that his son has been badly hurt, and he needs to return home at once. Loki refuses as he thinks Rocks is weaker than him, and also because he feels Harald would not do something like that for him. Loki tries to attack Rocks but is easily blown away, as Rocks has a reputation for blowing everything away with his sword like it was a hammer or a cannonball. Rocks laughs at the injury he gave Loki, saying he now has a legitimate reason to call him.

We then cut to the Levely that Harald snuck into 8 years ago. Rocks, who was also there, caused a commotion not only by attacking and abducting five kings in attendance, but actually managed to reach the Room of Flowers and meet Imu (though this part was never mentioned). Rocks' attempt to use the kings as bargaining chips failed as Imu expressed no care for them, so ultimately Rocks left, but not before declaring himself to Imu that he was an admirer of Davy Jones, and promising to them that he would one day return to this very room. At the same time, Harald was blamed for Rocks' actions and being pursued through the Holy Land. As Rocks was fleeing, the both of them saw another and attacked, Harald doing so out of anger that Rocks was making him take the fall for his actions, and Rocks needing him out of his way. The clash of the two's Haki ended up being so strong that it blew away anyone that was within five kilometers of them. After introducing each other, Rocks advised Harald aim his next blow at the town, for if he is captured, he will be enslaved. Though confused, Harald did so and the two continued running away with Rocks telling him which way to go. Rocks told Harald that if he survives they should meet again as he literally jumps off the Red Line, but Harald refuses to associate with him as he is a criminal. It was following that day that Rocks became a notoriously wanted man due to his crimes, particularly fatally wounding a Marine Admiral. Some time later, he attacked a World Government ship carrying the Heavenly Tribute of the World Nobles and destroyed the Gates of Justice. With the ship and money, Rocks began his pirating career, participating in Davy Back Fights to win crew members, and by the time he had reached Elbaph, he had six powerful people under his banner, though at the time they were not an official crew.

Loki contacted Harald and was surprised (if not somewhat in disbelief) that he did indeed come home to see him, but Harald had no idea that Loki tried to kill himself and instead assumed he fell off a cliff and he should stay away from the Underworld. Harald asks Rocks why he is in Elbaph and Rocks tells him that he wants him to join his crew. Harald refuses as he knows it will destroy the relations that he has built thus far, even though Rocks tells him that as giants they can do whatever they pleased to avoid becoming a government dog, rather than try to say everyone is equal. Harald states that Elbaph is changing for the better now but Rocks refutes this, claiming that people's true nature never changes and that his bloodlust from his youth is still there.

Harald tells Rocks' crew that if they follow him, only disaster will wait for them. Shiki, back when he was a mobster, states that he has no loyalty to Rocks and would not care if he died. Miss Buckin, also known as the "Science Robber", shares the sentiment, but also reveals that Rocks has a plan to make everyone present rich. A West Blue gangster named Don Marlon asks Harald if he has heard of Hachinosu, more commonly known as "Pirate Island"; in the past it was previously used to punish criminals that individual countries could not handle in their own prisons, and according to a young Edward Newgate, the island has no food and everyone sent there would eventually die. Ochoku, known as the "Pirate Guru", reveals that in recent years, the criminals sent there were able to build a settlement, which a smuggler named Ganzui explains is because they found a huge supply of gold on the island, and when various underground organizations found out, they helped mine the gold, allowing the criminals to turn a huge profit, which the World Government is not happy about.

Rocks tells Harald that it is too difficult to get close to Hachinosu, so he made a deal with the World Government to claim the island for them in exchange for a fair payment, however, Rocks has no intention to do that and only wants to take the island for himself so he can transform it into a pirate paradise. Rocks declares that once Hachinosu is under his command, he will destroy the Marines and the Holy Land, and then he will fulfill his dream of becoming "King of the World". Harald warns Rocks that this plan will make him an enemy of said world and it will be impossible, but Rocks has faith he can do it, as he also believes no organization ever lasts forever, and he wants him to join his crew believing his incredible strength will help him reach his goal. Harald still refused, but Loki, who overheard the conversation, became amazed by Rocks' plan, coming to see him as his salvation.

Four years later, Rocks' attempts to recruit Harald continuously failed, but despite that he was still able to amass a force powerful enough to take Hachinosu, thus the Rocks Pirates were officially born.
