Attack on Titan

Known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin, many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive.

SEASON 1

1. To You, in 2000 Years - The Fall of Shiganshina (1)
For over a century, humans have been living in settlements surrounded by three 50-meter gigantic walls, Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sina, which prevent the Titans, giant humanoid creatures who eat humans, from entering. Eren Jaeger, of the town called the Shiganshina District, wishes to see the outside world by joining the Scout Regiment, as he likens living in the cities to being like livestock. His resolve impresses his father Grisha Jaeger, who promises to show him what lies in their basement once he returns. Things change when the Colossal Titan, a giant 60-meter Titan taller than regular ones, appears and destroys the gate, allowing smaller Titans to enter. As the town erupts into mass panic, Eren and his friend Mikasa Ackerman find Eren's mother Carla Jaeger pinned under their collapsed house. A Smiling Titan approaches and Carla begs them to flee. City guard Hannes promises Carla to protect the kids. As he flees carrying them, Eren watches in horror as the Smiling Titan eats his mother.

2. That Day - The Fall of Shiganshina (2)
Hannes apologizes to Eren for being unable to save Carla. He is able to escape to the inner Wall Maria with Eren and Mikasa but the Armored Titan breaches that Wall as well, causing those inside to retreat even further, behind Wall Rose. Eren has a strange dream in which his grieving father forcefully gives him an injection and a key. Angry and bitter, Eren grows disgusted with the people of Wall Rose when they show disdain for sharing their food and resources with the refugees. During the next year, as a food shortage becomes apparent, the government sends about 250,000 refugees, 20% of the populace, to fight to reclaim Wall Maria, only to be wiped out by the Titans. Eren vows to eradicate the Titans and joins the army; Mikasa and his other best friend Armin Arlert join with him.

3. A Dim Light Amid Despair - Humanity's Comeback (1)
The drill instructor Keith Sadies inspects the new recruits of the 104th Cadet Corps. Eren develops a rivalry with Jean Kirschtein, who desires a safe and easy position in the Military Police Regiment within the inner city walls, as they do not have to fight Titans or go on expeditions outside like the Scout Regiment. The recruits train on an omni-directional mobility gear apparatus, where they have to balance themselves while suspended on cables. After Eren has trouble balancing, he asks Reiner Braun and Bertholdt Hoover for help and learns that they, like him, are among the few who have personally encountered Titans. Keith discovers that Eren's apparatus was defective and passes him after a retry with working equipment.

4. The Night of the Closing Ceremony - Humanity's Comeback (2)
It's been five years since Wall Maria fell. Keith evaluates the recruits for their strengths and weaknesses. After training in hand-to-hand combat with Annie Leonhart, Eren learns that Jean and several other recruits still hope to join the Military Police Regiment to avoid having to fight Titans. On graduation day, Eren and Mikasa rank among the top ten of their class. They are eligible to join the cushy Military Police Regiment, but Eren joins the Scout Regiment on the front lines, leading Armin and Mikasa to join him, though he tries to dissuade them. The trio is assigned to the Trost District, one of the cities at the outer edge of Wall Rose. The Colossal Titan breaches the gate, shocking Eren and his classmates.

5. First Battle - The Struggle for Trost (1)
The Colossal Titan vanishes in a burst of steam before Eren can attack. The Military Police Regiment scrambles to evacuate the people of the Trost District and set up defenses. With the Titans now in the city, Eren recalls his lessons: in order to kill a Titan, they must strike the nape of its neck. In the chaos, Eren and Armin's comrades are killed or eaten by the Titans, with Eren himself losing his left leg when he attacks in haste. Armin, paralyzed with fear, is picked up by a Bearded Titan. Eren manages to pull him out of the Bearded Titan's mouth and reaches for Armin, but the Bearded Titan closes its jaws, severing Eren's left arm and swallowing him.

6. The World the Girl Saw - The Struggle for Trost (2)
Armin awakens to find himself surrounded by Conny Springer, Christa Lenz and Ymir, blaming himself for Eren's fate. An Abnormal Titan approaches the city gate, which is crowded by refugees. Mikasa kills it with her atypical, powerful prowess, saving everyone. A flashback to the year 844, a year before the fall of Wall Maria, shows that Mikasa's family was targeted by three slave traders, who murdered her parents. Grisha and Eren discovered the corpses during a visit and Eren tracked down the slave traders to a nearby hut and killed two of them to save Mikasa. The third slave trader began strangling him. Encouraged by Eren, Mikasa overcame her fear and gained resolve to kill the slave trader. Grisha took Mikasa in, and she now considers the Jaegers family.

7. Small Blade - The Struggle for Trost (3)
The surviving squads, unable to reach the inner walls due to their omni-directional mobility gear being low on gas, lose their fighting spirit as the headquarters and supply depot are overrun by Titans. Mikasa learns from Armin that Eren is dead. She rallies the others to reclaim the supply depot by taking down the Titans but runs out of gas and falls into an alley. Jean assumes command, but loses his nerve momentarily when he sees his comrades being eaten. He eventually makes a judgement call, leading his surviving team members to headquarters. As a Titan approaches Mikasa, a mysterious, black-haired Titan appears and brutally kills it, much to her confusion. Armin, Conny, and Mikasa are shocked to witness the mysterious Titan not only fighting other Titans, but showing knowledge of their weak point and using hand-to-hand combat, while ignoring the humans. Armin gives Mikasa his gas tanks and blades so she can support the others, but she is unwilling to leave him behind.

8. I Can Hear His Heartbeat - The Struggle for Trost (4)
With the supply depot swarming with Titans, Armin has the idea of luring the mysterious Titan there to defeat them. His plan works, but while the mysterious Titan is able to kill the enemy Titans outside, seven smaller Titans are in the fuel storage area. With their equipment out of fuel, Armin devises another plan. The survivors shoot the Titans in the eyes to blind them, while seven others jump to finish them off. This, too, is successful and having replenished their fuel, the soldiers prepare to retreat. Everyone is surprised to see the Titans attacking and cannibalizing the mysterious Titan, who defeats them before collapsing. They watch in shock as Eren emerges from its body, alive. Armin realizes that Eren's severed leg and arm have somehow regenerated.

9. Whereabouts of His Left Arm - The Struggle for Trost (5)
Captain Levi of the Scout Regiment and his squad are on a mission retaking a town from the Titans, but are called to the Trost District when the Titans invade. When Eren was swallowed alive by the Bearded Titan, he found himself in its stomach with the bodies of its victims. His rage at the Titans caused him to burst out of the Bearded Titan's stomach by transforming into a Titan himself and going on a rampage. Eren's comrades, who witnessed him emerge, agree to keep it a secret; however, Kitts also witnessed him and hysterically orders the cannons to fire on Eren, and Armin and Mikasa, who are shielding him. Eren recalls memories of his father giving him an injection to make him lose his memories, telling him the key around his neck will help him remember, and that he must go to their home's basement with the key, as the information they need is there. Eren remembers how to transform—by biting his hand—and protects his friends from the explosion by partially transforming into a Titan, sheltering them inside his ribs.

10. Response - The Struggle for Trost (6)
Eren detaches himself from his Titan's body and climbs out, telling Mikasa and Armin about the basement in his old, destroyed house. His father was working on a secret project there and he believes that it holds the secret to mankind's preservation and destroying the Titans. As the cannons are reloaded for another attack, Eren comes up with two escape plans. The first is for him to flee as a Titan and journey to his old house but criminalize himself, and the second is to have Armin convince Kitts that he is an asset to humanity and the military rather than a danger. Armin decides on the second. However, Kitts is overcome by fear and gives the order to fire. As the trio prepares to defend themselves, the order is halted by Commander Dot Pyxis, as he wants to hear Armin out. Pyxis guarantees their safety in return for Eren's Titan to block the destroyed gate in Wall Rose to prevent more Titans from getting in. Eren agrees to try, regardless of whether or not he will be able to.

11. Idol - The Struggle for Trost (7)
As Armin helps Pyxis's subordinates coordinate a plan, morale among the troops begin to drop at the thought of facing the Titans again. Pyxis reminds them that if they abandon their posts, they will be subjecting their families to the same terror they faced; this convinces the troops to stay. Claiming that Eren is the result of a secret project to turn humans into Titans, Pyxis plans to have most of the troops gather at a far corner of the Trost District to lure most of the Titans away while Eren as a Titan is posted on the opposite end to carry the giant boulder to seal the hole. Eren will be guarded during the mission by three of the best elites of the Garrison Regiment; Ian Dietrich, Rico Brzenska and Mitabi Jarnach, with Mikasa joining for her extraordinary skill. Reaching the boulder, Eren transforms into a Titan, only to turn and attack Mikasa.

12. Wound - The Struggle for Trost (8)
Mikasa tries to reason with Eren's Titan form, but to no avail. He accidentally incapacitates himself, slumping to the ground. The elite squad protecting him sends up a red flare to signal that the plan has failed, to the dismay of the rest of the troops. As Armin heads toward Eren to investigate, the elite squad argues about withdrawing and abandoning him to the Titans but Captain Ian convinces them to protect him even while he is incapacitated, recognizing Eren's potential as a valuable asset. Jean's mobility gear malfunctions, forcing him to hide from Titans. Armin reaches the unconscious Eren and plunges his sword into the Titan's left arm, which briefly awakens Eren from the pain. As Armin speaks to him of their dream to see the outside world and his promise to kill all Titans, Eren leaves his dreamlike state and regains control.

13. Primal Desire - The Struggle for Trost (9)
Jean escapes with Annie, Connie and Marco Bott 's help. To everyone's surprise, Eren in his Titan form starts carrying the boulder toward the gate. Captain Ian orders everyone to protect him. As the soldiers fight off the Titans, Eren successfully blocks the gate. Rico fires a yellow flare to signal that the operation was a success. When Armin and Eren are cornered by two Titans, Levi saves them just in time. In the aftermath, all Titans remaining in the Trost District are eliminated and two are captured for research. The troops mourn the deaths of their comrades among the casualties incurred. Eren is chained in a jail cell guarded by the Military Police Regiment, where he is visited by Levi and Commander Erwin Smith of the Scout Regiment, who now hold Eren's key. Eren tells them about the basement; upon hearing that he wants to join the Scouts, Levi takes him into his squad, stating that he will take responsibility for Eren, but warns that he will kill him if Eren ever loses control.

14. Can't Look Into His Eyes - Eve of the Counterattack (1)
The populace is divided over whether Eren is their savior or their end. He is brought to a military tribunal where Commander-in-Chief Dhalis Zachary will decide whether he should be handed over to the Military Police Regiment or the Scout Regiment. The Military Police wants Eren executed, seeing him as a danger, while the Scout Regiment wants to use his ability to retake Wall Maria. Eren angrily calls out the Military Police for their cowardice and selfishness. Levi brutally beats him in retaliation; despite his anger, Eren does not transform as feared. Levi and Erwin use this to show that the Scouts can control him and kill him if need be. Thus, Zachary gives him to the Scout Regiment. Erwin and Levi make amends with Eren for beating him up, though Eren understands it was necessary to get him under the Scouts' supervision. As he is getting treatment, they are bewildered to see that the tooth Levi knocked out has already grown back.

15. Special Operations Squad - Eve of the Counterattack (2)
Levi and his Special Operations Squad, composed of Eld Gin, Oruo Bozad, Petra Rall and Günther Schultz, bring Eren to the old Scout Regiment headquarters, where he will learn to control his Titan powers under their watch. Erwin and Miche Zacharius discuss how they must prove Eren's usefulness to the Military within a month but Erwin hints that there is another reason for Eren's presence and the upcoming expedition. Hange asks Eren to help in experiments with the two Titans they've captured, which Hange named Sawney and Beane. It is revealed that Titans need sunlight to survive and their bodies are disproportionately light despite their size. The next day, the Scout Regiment discovers that Sawney and Beane have been killed and the culprit is likely a soldier themselves, which makes Eren wonder who their true enemy is.

16. What Needs to Be Done Now - Eve of the Counterattack (3)
As the recruits are investigated over Sawney and Beane's deaths, Annie joins the Military Police Regiment. The 104th class of cadets are greeted by Erwin at the Decision Ceremony, where he informs them that the goal of the Scout Regiment's expedition next month is to reclaim Wall Maria so they can enter the Shiganshina District and uncover the secret in the basement of Eren's home. He tells them of the Scout Regiment's high mortality rate, since they are the military branch responsible for outside exploration and Titan combat. After hearing of this, most recruits leave to join the other branches. Jean, suffering from guilt and inner turmoil, joins the Scouts in honor of Marco; Mikasa, Armin, Reiner, Bertholdt, Conny, Sasha, Christa and Ymir also join. Thus, Eren is reunited with his friends after a while. The Scout Regiment embarks on their 57th Expedition beyond the walls.

17. Female Titan - The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission (1)
As they begin the 57th Expedition, the Scout Regiment assembles into their Long-Range Scouting Formation, wherein they spread out in a semicircle around the main wagon train and signal by colored flare guns if Titans are nearby so the group can collectively alter course to avoid conflict if possible. Things get difficult when a Female Titan suddenly appears at high speed toward Armin's squad. Much to Armin's shock, this Titan is intelligent enough to kill his seniors and protect her neck. She captures Armin, but after seeing his face, inexplicably lets him go, causing Armin to realize that she is possibly a human with a Titan form like Eren. Armin is picked up by Reiner and Jean, who reveal that their right flank was wiped out by Titans. They realize that the Female Titan's target is Eren and try to stop her but fail.

18. Forest of Giant Trees - The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission (2)
Armin, Reiner and Jean are left with only one horse after their encounter with the Female Titan. They are saved when Christa arrives with extra horses. To everyone's surprise, the operation is continuing, albeit heading in a different direction. News reaches the center group about the annihilation of their right flank by the Female Titan. The formation breaks entirely as the Scouts all reach the Forest of Giant Trees; only the center row enters while the rest defend the forest from Titans. Eren realizes something is wrong when he sees that no one in his squad has any idea of what they're doing or what Erwin's plan is, including Levi. As the Female Titan arrives at their heels, Levi tells his squad to cover their ears, preparing his flare gun.

19. Bite - The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission (3)
Levi fires a noise round and tells the squad to keep moving forward. With more of the rearguard being killed by the Female Titan, Eren begs his squad to let him fight, but they tell him to trust Levi's decision. Eren recalls when he was unable to transform into a Titan for experimental purposes for Hange and the squad. During a break, when he tried to pick up a fallen teaspoon, he unexpectedly partially transformed, leading the squad to panic and Hange to deduce that he is able to transform not by simply injuring himself but also when he has a specific goal in mind. The squad later apologized to Eren, telling him they should trust each other. Eren decides to trust in the current plan. It is revealed that Levi's squad is bait to lure the Female Titan into an ambush in the forest, where Erwin and his men fire hundreds of grappling hooks to trap her. Levi leaves to meet with Erwin to determine next steps.

20. Erwin Smith - The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission (4)
Though the Female Titan is restrained, the squad is unable to extract the human inside as she is able to crystallize her skin to prevent them from cutting her skin. Everyone realizes it was Erwin's plan to use Eren as bait to draw out the mole within the army who joined them after the Walls fell; that's why he kept the plan from all current members and only revealed it to those who were part of the Scout Regiment before the fall. The Female Titan suddenly hollers a scream that draws all Titans in the vicinity towards her. Despite the Scout's attempt to stop them, the Titans ignore them and eat the Female Titan's body in a frenzy. Thus, Erwin calls off the expedition. With no confirmation that the mole inside has also been eaten, Erwin orders Levi to replenish his gas and gear just in case before returning to his squad. The mole is indeed alive; disguised as a cloaked Scout Regiment member, they attack Levi's squad and kill Günther.

21. Crushing Blow - The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission (5)
Erwin realizes it was a mistake to think that all intelligent Titans are like Eren, since the Female Titan has abilities far beyond that of a novice. The mole once again transforms into the Female Titan and chases after Levi's squad. Armin theorizes that the mole is someone who had seen Eren transform during the invasion of the Trost District. Eren wants to transform but the squad tells him to trust in their skills to protect him. Eld, Oruo, and Petra manage to blind the Titan; however, she regenerates her right eye and kills all three of them. Grieving and furious, Eren transforms into a Titan. Believing his squad's death could have been avoided if he'd transformed in the first place, he fights the Titan but she defeats him by beheading him and swallowing his human body. Mikasa attempts to intervene, but to no avail. Levi arrives, telling her to keep her distance, as the Female Titan is getting tired and they can take advantage.

22. The Defeated - The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission (6)
Levi debilitates the Female Titan at incredibly high speed so that she can't even crystallize her skin in time. He injures his leg when saving Mikasa but is able to retrieve Eren from the Female Titan's mouth, as she is now badly wounded and slumped against a tree. The Scout Regiment somberly retrieve the corpses of their fallen and begin the journey home. On the way, they are chased by two Titans. One is killed by Mikasa and they outrun the second after Levi orders them to dispose of the corpses to lighten the wagon's load. Eren wakes up and finds that they are back in town behind Wall Sina. The townspeople not only berate the Scout Regiment's ineptitude but are enraged over the casualties. As a result of the failed expedition, Erwin and his subordinates are summoned to the capital, where Eren is ordered to be handed over.

23. Smile - Assault on Stohess (1)
In the Stohess District, the Military Police Regiment are ordered to escort the Scout Regiment convoy once they enter the capital. Annie's colleagues Hitch Dreyse and Marlo Sand are in the Military Police for opposite reasons, one for its corruption, the other for its reformation. After the convoy has entered, Armin secretly calls Annie away and begs for her help in smuggling Eren out of the capital so the Scout Regiment has time to gather proof to keep him. The one riding in the convoy is Jean in disguise. Annie agrees and Armin brings her, Eren, and Mikasa to a tunnel. Annie refuses to enter and realizes that she has walked into a trap, surrounded by Scouts. Armin finally reveals his suspicion that Annie is the Female Titan; she used Marco's omni-directional mobility gear to kill Sawney and Beane and did not kill him during the 57th Expedition. They beg Annie to prove them wrong, but instead she laughs and transforms by wounding her hand with the spike in her ring.

24. Mercy - Assault on Stohess (2)
A few days earlier, Eren was informed by Erwin that Annie was suspected to be the Female Titan, thanks to Armin's deductions, and how they plan to capture her. In the present, Eren tries to transform but is unable to as his feelings for Annie are holding him back—he is unable to accept that someone he trusted turned out to be the Titan. He is then heavily injured from a tunnel collapse. Commander Nile Dawk of the Military Police Regiment demands an explanation from Erwin, holding him at gunpoint and threatening him of treason. As the Scouts try to capture Annie, Armin tells Eren that those who cannot sacrifice anything can never change anything; Mikasa reminds him that they live in a cruel world and must fight. Eren remembers his squad's deaths and his mother's, and uses his intense hatred of the Titans to finally transform.

25. Wall: Raid on Stohess District (3)
A group of worshippers who idolise the Walls are ironically crushed by Annie, leaving Minister Nick the only survivor. Eren and Annie fight in their Titan forms throughout the Stohess District, causing destruction and civilian deaths. As this was Erwin's operation, he accepts responsibility for the damage and is arrested by Nile. Annie is overpowered and attempts to escape by climbing up Wall Sina, but Mikasa cuts off her fingers. Eren prepares to eat the human Annie but Levi stops him as she must be captured alive for interrogation. Annie's body encases itself in crystal, leaving her comatose and safe from interrogation. Erwin attends a government inquiry to clear his name, explaining that despite the deaths, he believes the operation was a step forward for humanity; they now plan to hunt down more intelligent Titans and launch a counterattack. Eren remains with the Scouts, who have Annie's custody as well. In the epilogue, a piece of Wall Sina crumbles, revealing the face of a Titan buried inside.

SEASON 2

1. Beast Titan
Hange Zoë and her team discover a Titan sealed inside Wall Sina. Pastor Nick of the Wall Cult urges them to cover it from sunlight with sheets. However, he refuses to tell Hange why it is there, leading her to suspect that there are more Titans hidden within the walls. Erwin Smith is informed that Wall Rose was breached by Titans. Twelve hours earlier, the rest of the 104th Cadets were stationed at an outpost, unarmed and under suspicion of being Titans, when Titans were seen advancing from the south. Miche Zacharius orders them to spread out and inform the nearby villages while he stays behind to delay them. Miche is captured by a Beast Titan, which looks apelike and is capable of speaking. The Beast Titan takes Miche's omni-directional mobility gear, curious about it, and leaves him to be eaten by the Titans.

2. I'm Home
Armin Arlelt and Hange deduce that the Wall Titans sealed in the walls provide its strength; they've been protected from the Titans by the Titans. The Scout Regiment departs from the Stohess District in the capital to deal with the Titans inside Wall Rose. Sasha Braus rushes to her home village of Dauper to warn them. She arrives to find the village deserted except for a woman being eaten by a malnourished Titan, and her little daughter in shock. Sasha flees with the girl and succeeds in blinding the Titan with her arrows, just as a group of villagers, including her father, come by and pick her up. Conny Springer and his group arrive at Conny's own home village, Ragako, only to find that it has already been attacked by Titans. He discovers a Titan trapped inside his house and they wonder how it was able to travel so far from the Walls since its legs seem too feeble to support its body.

3. Southwestward
Conny is bewildered when the Titan atop his house faintly speaks, welcoming him home, and prompting him to wonder if he just heard his mother. His group reunites with Nanaba 's group, which includes Christa Lenz and Ymir. They realize that no breaches or holes occurred in the walls for the Titans to have come through. They decide to rest overnight at the Castle Utgard ruins. In Eren Jaeger 's group, Eren learns that he can seal the breach in the Shiganshina District with the same crystallized skin Annie Leonhart had; it turns out the walls are literally made of the same material: Titan crystallized skin. Pastor Nick reveals that Christa is the key to all the answers. Sasha delivers Hange a scroll from Erwin, advising them to head to Castle Utgard. The Beast Titan leads Titans to attack Utgard, shocking the group as to why these Titans are active at night.

4. Soldier
Two hours before the attack at Castle Utgard, the 104th Cadets rest and Conny mentions that the Titan at Ragako resembled his mother. Reiner Braun becomes suspicious when Ymir is able to read the unknown language on a food can labeled herring. When the Titans attack, the senior Scouts hold them off while the 104th Cadets defend against smaller Titans that have breached the castle. Reiner has his arm injured after it is bitten by a Titan. The Beast Titan throws chunks of Wall Rose at the castle, killing the group's horses. A second wave of Titans attack, and the senior soldiers are overwhelmed and killed. As the Titans surround the tower the unarmed 104th Cadets are on, Ymir unexpectedly transforms into a Titan to fight them, shocking everyone.

5. Historia
In the past, Christa and Ymir became lost in a blizzard during their winter training in the mountains while trying to save fellow cadet Daz. Ymir accused Christa of having a death wish rather than saving Daz for selfless reasons. She was aware that Christa is the illegitimate daughter of a nobleman's mistress who was forced by the Wall Cult to change her name and join the army to avoid disgrace. Ymir made Christa promise that she must live life on her own terms if she ever reveals her true name. In the present, Ymir transforms into a small intelligent Titan, fights off the other Titans, and saves everyone. Just as the Titans overwhelm her, Hange and the other Scouts arrive in time to save her and the 104th Cadets. Before the gravely-injured Ymir loses consciousness, Christa reveals that her real name is Historia Reiss.

6. Warrior
Hannes reports that the walls were never breached, leaving it up in the air just how the Titans invaded from outside. The Scouts prepare to take the comatose Ymir to the Trost District for medical care, knowing she holds valuable information about humanity. Just then, Eren learns that Reiner and Bertholdt are the Armored Titan and Colossal Titan respectively, the ones who had attacked his hometown five years ago. Their mission is to destroy all of humanity. Twelve hours earlier in the Ehrmich District, Hange explained that the background report she'd received on Annie suggested a connection with Reiner and Bertholdt, as all three are from the same area. The Scouts realize that the pair may have helped Annie find Eren during the 57th Expedition. In the present, Reiner and Bertholdt transform and grab Eren and Ymir. Feeling betrayed about who he'd thought were his friends, Eren transforms to fight.

7. Close Combat
As Eren and the Armored Titan battle, the Colossal Titan consumes Ymir and a Scout. Hange and the others try to attack but the Colossal Titan releases an enormous amount of steam, scorching and wounding several of them and preventing further attacks. The Armored Titan gains the upper hand but Eren uses hand-to-hand combat techniques that he learned from Annie during their recruit training, enabling him to inflict serious damage. Eren listens when Armin implores him to fall back to the wall for his own safety. As the Armored Titan charges once more, Eren utilizes grappling techniques advised by Hange to overcome his strength disadvantage. He is nearly successful at beheading the Armored Titan and extracting the human Reiner from within, only to be foiled when the Armored Titan roars for assistance. The Colossal Titan deteriorates and plummets toward them, sure to crush them both.

8. The Hunters
The Colossal Titan hits the ground, releasing a massive amount of steam. The Armored Titan uses the distraction to extract Eren while Bertholdt carries the unconscious Ymir; both flee with their hostages. Five hours later, the military divisions in the Trost District are informed of the battle. Mikasa is distraught but Armin tells her nothing can be done in their current state, as many of the soldiers, including Hange, were injured from the steam. Erwin arrives with reinforcements. Hange posits that Reiner and Bertholdt may seek refuge within the Forest of Giant Trees to rest until nightfall so as to avoid encountering other Titans, assuming their goal is to relocate outside Wall Maria. Eren wakes up in the forest to find Ymir beside him as their bodies are slowly regenerating their missing limbs, Reiner and Bertholdt keeping watch. The Scouts depart from Wall Rose and begin the rescue operation.

9. Opening
Left behind due to injury, Hange requests to go to Ragako to see the immobilized Titan, as she has a hunch she wants to confirm. Moblit goes instead since she isn't in a state fit to travel. In the Forest of Giant Trees, as Eren and Ymir continue to regenerate their limbs, they learn that Reiner and Bertholdt plan to take them to their hometown, waiting until nightfall when the surrounding Titans cannot move. Reiner begins to ramble about his duty as a soldier and a warrior; Ymir deduces that he is confused between his undercover and real personas, since he's spent so long acting like a Scout. Ymir is concerned about the Beast Titan, who may be their true enemy. Reiner uses Ymir's concern for Historia as leverage to drive a wedge between her and Eren. The group then sees and hears the flare guns, signalling the arrival of the Scouts.

10. Children
In Ragako, Moblit realizes that the disabled Titan is, in fact, Conny's mother. Ymir's past is shown in a flashback; as a child, she was worshipped by a cult. The cult was later apprehended and punished by soldiers; each was injected with something, including Ymir, and thrown off the wall, resulting them transforming into Pure Titans. Ymir spent the next sixty years as a Titan until she ate Marcel, a childhood friend of Reiner and Bertholdt's, which returned her to human form. After accepting her true identity, she met Historia and empathized with her, as Historia's predicament was similar. In the present, Ymir convinces Reiner and Bertholdt to allow her to transform and take Historia with them. When the Scouts enter the forest, Ymir swallows Historia. Reiner transforms and flees with Bertholdt, Eren and Ymir riding on his shoulders. However, the Scouts give chase.

11. Charge
Ymir regurgitates Historia as the Scouts close in. The 104th Cadets try and reason with Bertholdt, who cries that though his time with them wasn't a lie, there is no turning back from their mission to bring Eren "home." Erwin leads the Scouts to lure a big group of Titans toward them and the Armored Titan, who is consequently attacked by the Titans, forcing him to fight and leave Bertholdt defenseless. Despite Erwin's right arm being bitten off and Scouts being eaten, Armin manages to distract Bertholdt with a lie, allowing them to rescue Eren. Conny and Sasha grab Historia from Ymir. The Scouts' retreat is blocked when the Armored Titan throws Titans at them, knocking Eren and Mikasa off their horse. The pair come face-to-face with the Smiling Titan that ate Eren's mother, Carla Jaeger.

12. Scream
Hannes sacrifices himself protecting Eren and Mikasa from the Smiling Titan. Eren breaks down, unable to transform to help, but Mikasa inspires him to keep trying. Eren activates an unknown power within him, as when he roars a battle cry, the Titans leave the Scouts alone and go devour the Smiling Titan. This makes Ymir realize that Reiner and Bertholdt want Eren because he possesses the Coordinate, the ability to control other Titans. The surviving Scouts escape after Eren causes the Titans to go after the Armored Titan next. Ymir leaves Historia to save Reiner and Bertholdt. A week later, Hange and Conny give a report to Erwin, healing from losing his arm, Levi, and Dot Pyxis that reveals that the Titans that appeared in Wall Rose were the citizens of Ragako, meaning that Titans are, in fact, humans. Remembering how many died to rescue him, Eren vows to use his new power to help humanity. Meanwhile, the Beast Titan looks out from atop Wall Maria, as a mysterious man emerges from its back, declaring "not just yet".

SEASON 3

1. Smoke Signal
The reformed Levi Squad, now composed of Eren and his six cadet friends, are camped out in a remote cottage, where Hange runs experiments to test Eren's Titan abilities. Pastor Nick is tortured and murdered by the Military Police 's First Interior Squad, causing Levi to suspect that someone in the government is intent on destroying the Scout Regiment to conceal the secrets of the Titans and the Walls, and is after Eren and Historia. A message from Erwin, who has been arrested by the MP, has Levi abandon their hideout just before the MP arrives to raid it. The Scouts sneak back into the Trost District. Jean and Armin, disguised as Eren and Historia, are abducted by Dimo Reeves but the Scouts easily rescue them. As Levi shadows Eren and Historia's transport wagon, he feels uneasy, as the abduction feels similar to the actions of Kenny the Ripper, a notorious serial killer he lived with as a child. Sure enough, Kenny himself ambushes him with slug guns, killing Levi's team.

2. Pain
Kenny, now working for the First Interior Squad, violently pursues Levi, who fights and escapes. The Scouts are forced to defend Historia and Eren's wagon, which involves killing human attackers, something they have never done before. Armin is traumatised after killing an actual person rather than a Titan to save Jean. They are forced to retreat when the attackers subdue Historia and Eren with tranquilizer darts and escape. Levi interrogates Reeves, who was coerced into helping the Military Police, and offers him protection in exchange for his help. With Reeves' help, they capture Interior Squad soldiers Djel Sannes and Ralph, who murdered Pastor Nick, and torture them for information. They discover that Historia is the real heir to the throne and is being held by her father, Lord Rod Reiss. Reeves is killed by Kenny for betraying him, witnessed by Reeves' son, Flegel.

3. Old Story
In a flashback, Historia tells the Scouts of her upbringing, Kenny's execution of her mother, and her father sending her away after forcing her to adopt a fake identity. In the present, Rod explains he did so to protect her from execution. Hange tells the Scouts that Eren will be eaten by a Titan of the government's choosing so it can acquire his power to control other Titans. Erwin informs Commander Pyxis his plans of a nonviolent coup d'état to overthrow the corrupt Royal Government and restore Historia as the true Queen, as Sannes confessed that the current King is a fraud. Erwin reveals that his father was murdered for his theory that the Walls protect the property of the wealthy, not humanity, so they selfishly kill anyone who tries to uncover the Wall's secrets—which now includes Erwin, as he is framed for Reeves' murder. The entire Scout Regiment is placed under arrest as part of the plan to dissolve the team. Now fugitives, Squad Levi plans the Historia and Eren rescue operation.

4. Trust
Squad Levi captures the two soldiers tracking them, Marlowe and Hitch, Annie 's friends in the Military Police. After learning that Annie was the Female Titan and the Scouts are being framed, Marlowe and Hitch help by leading them to an outpost. Levi tortures the Interior Police officer there for Eren and Historia's location. Hange rescues Flegel from the Military Police, who are trying to kill him to cover up that his father was killed by the Interior Police. Flegel tricks the MPs into confessing this and the fact that the government is trying to frame the Scouts before the residents of Stohess. With the people no longer fooled by the government, Hange takes her next step. As Erwin is brought before the King for execution, he warns his friend Nile that Nile must choose a side before Pyxis begins the coup.

5. Reply
At his trial, Erwin unsuccessfully proposes to reclaim Wall Maria to avoid a potential civil war caused by people competing for limited resources within Wall Rose and Wall Sina. Just then, news arrives that Wall Rose has been breached by Titans. Rather than allow Wall Rose refugees shelter within Wall Sina, the council orders the gates closed, willing to sacrifice the entire Wall Rose population. A disgusted Nile refuses to obey, and Chancellor Darius Zackly reveals that the breach report was a ruse that Erwin and Pyxis were in on. With the council's self-interest and disregard for its citizens revealed, they are all arrested, the Scout Regiment is exonerated, and the military temporarily takes over. Flegel has the news published in the press, informing the public of the truth. Hange brings the good news to the Levi Squad and informs them of the mysterious deaths of Rod Reiss' family that caused him to seek out Historia, the only member of his bloodline left. In a crystalline cavern, a chain-bound Eren is approached by Historia.

6. Sin
Rod has Historia touch Eren, which triggers forgotten memories for them both: Eren learns that he was turned into a Titan by his father Grisha and ate his father the night he received the basement key. Historia remembers her half-sister Frieda, who had erased her memories to protect her. Frieda possessed the Founding Titan power; Grisha, a Titan Shifter, devoured her for it and killed her siblings and mother. In the capital, Pyxis tells Erwin that the Reiss family possesses the rare power to alter people's memories; if they take Eren's Titan power as well, the entire population will lose their memories again. Kenny recalls his grandfather explaining that the Ackermans were once bodyguards to the Reiss royal family. They were persecuted as the Reiss memory-altering powers had no effect on them. Today, there are three known Ackermans: Levi, Mikasa, and Kenny, whom Levi has just learned he may be related to. Squad Levi finds the trapdoor to the cavern in the Reiss chapel and prepares to face Kenny's troops guarding inside.

7. Wish
Squad Levi storms the cavern and forces Kenny's squad to retreat. Rod explains that the three Walls were built a century ago by their ancestor, the First King, who used the Founding Titan's power to erase the memories of all citizens (apart from the immune bloodlines) so that no one retained memory of the world's history beyond the Titans' arrival one hundred years ago. Generations later, Frieda inherited the Founding Titan, along with the memories of their world before Titans. Rod wants Historia to inject herself and become a Titan to eat Eren and reclaim the Founding Titan within him that he gained from eating his father, as only the Reisses can wield that Titan's power. Historia realizes that Rod's true intent is simply restoring his family's power; the Reisses cannot save humanity due to the First King brainwashing everyone. She breaks the syringe. Desperate, Rod laps up the serum and transforms into a massive Titan.

8. Outside the Walls of Orvud District
Squad Levi, Historia, and Eren are cornered by the Titan Rod Reiss, whose gigantic size causes the cavern to start collapsing. Eren spots a serum labeled Armor; drinking it allows his Titan to harden and stabilize their surroundings, saving his friends. The Scouts retrieve him from his crystallized Titan body and see that Rod's Titan is headed toward the Orvud District at Wall Sina. Unable to fight or restrain him, everyone agrees that Rod must be killed. Historia explains that Eren's father was, in fact, saving them by killing the Reiss family and taking the Founding Titan, as the Reisses were brainwashed by the First King to maintain "peace" by letting the Titans be rather than eradicating them with the Founding Titan. At Orvud District, Levi informs Historia that she must become Queen to ensure a peaceful transition from the coup d'état. Historia agrees. Erwin decides not to evacuate the citizens of Orvud, surprising everyone.

9. Ruler of the Walls
Erwin justifies his decision; evacuation wouldn't matter because Rod's Titan is large enough to knock down all the Walls to get to them, which would destroy humanity. They decide to lure Rod into a trap. The Garrison Corp 's cannon barrages have little effect, and Rod reaches the Wall, face and chest eroded from crawling for miles on the ground. The Scouts implement their plan. They ram the Titan's hands with gunpowder-loaded carts, destroying them with the explosion. After the Titan slumps over the Wall, Eren assumes his Titan form and plunges sacks of gunpowder barrels into its mouth. The Titan explodes from within and the Scouts slice through the airborne fragments. Historia is the one who succeeds in destroying the flesh of the nape, killing her father. In doing so, she sees his memories. Back at the Reiss estate, Kenny, mortally wounded from the cavern collapse, recalls his past, including with Levi when the boy was a child, before being found by Levi himself.

10. Friends
As he lies dying, Kenny Ackerman remembers his unlikely friendship with Uri Reiss years earlier; pledging loyalty to the family after Uri begged Kenny's forgiveness for the Ackermans' persecution; bringing up Levi, his dead sister Kuchel's son, teaching Levi how to survive in the Underground; and leading the clandestine Anti-Personnel Control Squad. Levi asks why Kenny eventually abandoned him as a child. Kenny states that he was not fit to be a parent, and with his dying words, reveals himself as Levi's uncle. Levi is left shaken by the discovery. Kenny hands over the Titan serum he stole from Rod Reiss' bag and dies. In the capital, Historia is officially crowned Queen. Elsewhere, the Beast Titan defeats Reiner and tells him and Bertholdt that rescuing Annie can come later and that retrieving the Coordinate (Eren) is their priority.

11. Bystander
Two months after Historia's coronation, the military has purged the old puppet regime. Eren perfects his Titan hardening ability; with it, Hange develops a new guillotine weapon that allows them to easily kill Titans without fighting or risking human life. At Jean's prompting, Eren tries to remember the Scout who appeared in his father's memories from when Historia touched him. He realizes it was Training Corps Commander Keith Shadis, and the Scouts visit him. Keith explains that he met Grisha, who claimed to have amnesia, twenty years ago outside Wall Maria. Grisha worked as a doctor, married Carla, and had Eren. After the Fall of Wall Maria in Shiganshina, he took Eren into the woods, telling him to avenge his mother. Keith later found Eren unconscious and alone, with the key around his neck. Keith resigned as Commander, installing Erwin as the new one. Keith had hoped Eren would avoid becoming like Grisha but Eren says he is merely the son of a special man.

12. Night of the Battle to Retake the Wall
Unable to analyse the Titan Serum because of its volatile nature, Erwin entrusts it to Levi in the event it must be used to turn someone into a Titan. Arrangements are set for the expedition to retake Wall Maria and search the Yaeger family's basement, as Erwin suspects the truth of their world lies there. Worried about Erwin's chances of survival due to the fact that he is now handicapped with one arm, Levi tries to convince him to remain behind and let Hange command, but Erwin insists. On the night before the mission, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin reflect on their hopes for a future beyond the Walls. The day of the expedition, the people of Trost gather and give the Scouts a warm send-off, surprising them, as they are generally used to being disliked. Bertholdt and Reiner stand guard on Wall Maria. In a mid-credits scene, Levi berates a shell-shocked and teary-eyed Eren and Mikasa as they stand amidst destruction. He punches Eren, causing Mikasa to attack him with her blade at his neck.

13. The Town Where Everything Began
The Scout Regiment reaches the Shiganshina District in Wall Maria, planning to retake it and search Eren's basement. They are unsettled at how deserted Shiganshina District seems, with no Titans in sight, and how Eren is easily able to plug the hole in the outer wall with his Titan hardening. Before he can plug the inner wall, Armin discovers a recent campsite; remembering that they found Titans inside the walls, he has the soldiers search for wall cavities. Sure enough, Reiner bursts from a hole in the wall and transforms into the Armored Titan. The Scouts find themselves surrounded by the Beast Titan with an army of Titans. The Beast Titan seals the inner entrance with a boulder, trapping the horses within Shiganshina and preventing the soldiers from using them to escape.

14. Thunder Spears
The Beast Titan sends the smaller Titans inside to kill the horses and cut off the Scouts' only escape route. Erwin has the majority of the squads protect the horses while the Levi and Hange squads tackle the Armored Titan, using Eren as bait to lure him away. The Armored Titan takes the bait, abandoning its target of killing the horses. Eren's training of hardening his hands pays off in the hand-to-hand combat, and he creates an opening for Hange and her squad to attack with their Thunder Spears, new weapons developed specifically for the Armored Titan. They succeed in blinding him and destroying the nape.

15. Descent
Bertholdt thinks back to the Battle of Trost where he, Reiner, and Annie were forced to leave Marco to be eaten by Titans after he overheard the truth about them being Titans. In the present, the Armored Titan roars to signal the Beast Titan to throw the barrel containing Bertholdt into Shiganshina. Armin attempts to negotiate with him, but Bertholdt intends to kill everyone present. He transforms into the Colossal Titan, causing a massive fiery explosion that Hange's squad gets caught in. With only five members of the Levi Squad remaining, Armin hesitates over attempting an attack or retreat as the Colossal Titan begins to advance.

16. Perfect Game
Bertholdt's Colossal Titan turns Shiganshina into a sea of flames. Frozen by indecision, Armin hands over command to Jean, as he is good at analyzing situations quickly. Outside the Wall, the Beast Titan pitches a barrage of rocks toward the Scouts protecting the horses, stoning them and causing casualties. Eren tries to stop the Colossal Titan but is knocked unconscious. The situation looks hopeless until Erwin reveals his last ploy: a suicidal counterattack wherein he and the Scouts will serve as a diversion so Levi can kill the Beast Titan. Knowing that he is leading himself and the young Scouts to their deaths, Erwin shares an emotional farewell with Levi and gives a rousing speech to the recruits, telling them that it is better to die fighting rather than cower to the cruelty of this world, and that their lives and deaths are meaningful. He then leads the charge toward the Beast Titan through a hail of rocks.

17. Hero
Erwin is mortally wounded but the Scouts push forward until the Beast Titan wipes them all out. Levi uses this distraction to incapacitate the Beast Titan, ripping out the bearded blond man inside. Levi intends to use the Titan serum to turn one of their own, hopefully Erwin, into a Titan and feed them the Beast Titan so they can gain its power. However, the Cart Titan rescues the blond man. Armin realizes the Colossal Titan goes immobile while emitting steam to defend itself, and comes up with a plan. Hange survived thanks to Moblit's sacrifice, and works with the team to blow Reiner out of his Titan. While Eren's Titan form is seemingly unconscious, Armin challenges the Colossal Titan. Bertholdt burns him alive in his steam, learning too late that Armin used himself as a distraction so Eren had time to harden his Titan form, successfully block the inner gate; then in human form, catch Bertholdt by surprise and rip him out of his Titan.

18. Midnight Sun
Eren finds himself alone on a roof with Armin, burnt near death, and the unconscious Bertholdt. The Cart Titan arrives, and the blond man asserts that Eren's father lied to him. He promises a confused Eren that he will save him before fleeing. Hange takes Ymir's letter from Reiner's possession but the Cart Titan rescues Reiner before she can kill him. Mikasa finds Levi about to inject Armin with the serum to save him. However, when Floch Forster, the only surviving recruit from the suicide charge, arrives with Erwin, also close to death, Levi chooses Erwin instead, causing Eren and Mikasa to defy him and attack him in grief. Hange calms them down and takes them away. Alone now, Levi remembers a conversation with Erwin and ultimately chooses to let the Commander finally rest in peace, injecting Armin instead. Armin becomes a Titan and eats Bertholdt, gaining the power of the Colossal Titan. Levi and Hange mourn the deceased Erwin while the squad extracts a healed Armin from his Titan form.

19. The Basement
Armin wakes up and learns that the nine of them are all that remains of the Scouts. He struggles with Levi's decision to save him instead of Erwin but Levi assures him that he does not regret his choice. Hange, Levi, Eren and Mikasa finally investigate Eren's basement. Grisha's key is not the key to the door but rather his desk drawer, containing three books. One has an image of Grisha with a woman and child who are neither Carla nor Eren. An inscription explains that the image is called a photograph, created by technology from a wealthy land beyond the Walls. Erwin had, in fact, always considered that there may be humans beyond the Walls. In a post-credits scene, Grisha's book recounts a time in his youth when he and his sister, Faye Yeager, lived in a city beyond Mitras, the world Eren knows today. Against their mother's rules, he ran with Faye beyond the walls of their district to watch an airship land.

20. That Day
While Eren and Mikasa are held in the stockade as punishment for defying Levi in Shiganshina, Eren has a dream experiencing the life of his father Grisha. Grisha and Faye were caught outside the Liberio Internment Zone by Eren Kruger and his partner Gross, who secretly has Faye killed. Grisha's father teaches Grisha their people's history and the Marley nation's prejudice toward them. As an adult, Grisha joins the Eldian Restoration movement. The movement is supported by a secret informant in the Marley military named "Owl." Grisha marries Dina Fritz, the last Eldian with royal blood on the mainland, and they have a son, Zeke. Grisha's attempt to raise Zeke as an infiltrator in the Marley military backfires, as his son becomes loyal enough to turn in his own parents. Grisha, Dina, and the Restorationists are taken to the wall of Paradis Island, punished by being turned into mindless Pure Titans once injected with Titan spinal fluid; because Eldians can turn into Titans, Marleyans see them as monsters. Dina is revealed to become the Smiling Titan that devours Eren's mother. Kruger suddenly kills Gross, revealing himself to be both the Owl and a Titan shifter, transforming and annihilating the Public Safety soldiers.

21. The Attack Titan
Armin transcribes as Eren details Eren Kruger's conversation with Grisha about his desire to restore Eldia. Kruger reveals that those who possess the Titan Power live for only thirteen years, along with the nature of the Coordinate. He tasks Grisha with infiltrating Paradis behind the Walls to take the Founding Titan from the royal family, and tells him to start a new family there before injecting him with the Titan serum. Puzzlingly, he mentions Armin and Mikasa; when Grisha asks who they are, Kruger doesn't know. In the present, everyone attends the government conference, where Hange reveals the new information learned from Grisha's journals: they are all Eldians, Subjects of Ymir, part of a special race that can turn into Titans, and are thus being persecuted by the outside world. Eren realizes that he can command Pure Titans despite not being of royalty because he touched the Pure Titan form of Dina, who was of royal blood. He keeps it to himself out of fear of what the military might do to Historia if he reveals this.

22. Beyond the Wall
Historia decides their people must be told the truth about the Titans, which had been kept secret for 100 years; that the breaching of Wall Maria five years ago was the beginning of a planned invasion by the state of Marley to steal their resources; and that the King a century ago had erased all of their memories to make them think humanity was wiped out and maintain peace rather than fight Marley. At a ceremony to honor their fallen comrades, Historia presents the nine surviving Scouts with medals. Eren touches her hand and is flooded by memories of his father confronting the Fritz royal family, indicating a connection through Titan blood. It takes one year to eradicate all Titans inside Wall Maria; finally, the refugees return to their hometowns and the Scouts resume expeditions outside the Walls. One day, they go far enough that they arrive at the Wall Eren recognizes as where Grisha became a Titan, and for the first time, everyone sees the ocean. Though the rest joyfully play, Eren is somber, realizing that they only found more enemies instead of freedom. He asks everyone if they would finally be free if they kill their enemies on the other side of the sea.

SEASON 4

1. Other Side of the Sea
Four years after the Warrior Unit's defeat on Paradis Island, Marley is at war against the Mid-East Allied Forces. As a result, the operation to reclaim the Founding Titan was put on hold. In the final battle at the Allied Forces' base, Fort Slava, Marley sends Eldian soldiers, including child Warrior Candidates (candidates to inherit the power of the Nine Titans after the current ones 13-year term is up) Falco Grice, his older brother Colt, Reiner's cousin Gabi Braun, Udo, and Zofia. The Allied Forces' armored train contains a deadly anti-Titan cannon. Gabi manages to disable the train with hand grenades. This allows Pieck 's Cart Titan and Galliard 's Jaw Titan to attack. From an airship, Eldians are transformed into Pure Titans by Zeke using his scream, and they, with Reiner 's Armored Titan, destroy the fort. Zeke's Beast Titan annihilates the Mid-East Allied Fleet, ending the four-year war with Marley victorious. However, after witnessing the improved anti-Titan weaponry other nations are developing to combat them, Marley realizes they must resume the operation to retrieve the Founding Titan.

2. Midnight Train
At a Marleyan military meeting, Zeke proposes to use his last year of life to attack Paradis Island and retake the Founding Titan. However, as none of Marley's scout ships sent to Paradis have returned for the past three years, it is clear that Paradis controls at least two of the Nine Titans. On a train back home, Reiner encourages Falco to become the Armored Titan in place of Gabi to save her from the 13-year life limit. The Eldian soldiers and Warriors arrive home in Liberio, the Eldian internment zone, and reunite with their families. At dinner, Reiner puzzles Gabi when he describes the supposed devil island of Paradis as having "all sorts of people". Zeke informs the Warriors of his plan to use the Tybur noble family and their War Hammer Titan to declare war against Paradis so Marley can retake the Founding Titan and continue colonizing nations.

3. The Door of Hope
Reiner thinks back to the curse of being an Eldian. He had resolved to unite his Eldian mother and Marleyan father by entering the military training program where Eldian child Candidates are chosen to become Titans for Marley, which earns them the status of Honorary Marleyans. Reiner's father, however, rejected him on account of him being Eldian. Four years ago, Commander Theo Magath had sent then-teenagers Annie Leonhart, Bertholdt Hoover, Marcel Galliard and Reiner on a mission to Paradis to reclaim the Founding Titan. Marcel was devoured by Ymir 's Pure Titan. Following their assault on Wall Maria, the remaining three joined the 104th Training Corps two years later, befriending Eren and the others, and seeking information about the Founding Titan. Reiner ultimately decided to destroy Wall Rose. In the present, a depressed Reiner attempts suicide, but urges himself to live for Falco and the other child Candidates. Falco stops by the hospital and speaks with a traumatized Eldian soldier, who admits to faking amnesia to avoid being sent back home.

4. From One Hand to Another
Kruger, the traumatized and disabled Eldian soldier, asks Falco to post letters for him from outside the internment zone. Willy Tybur, the head of the Tybur family who possesses the War Hammer Titan, forms an alliance with Commander Magath to stop the warmongering and restore the balance between Eldia and Marley. At the hospital, patient Mr. Jaeger, Grisha 's father, and Eren's grandfather, tells Kruger to stop making Falco do favors for him because Falco and his family might get in trouble with Marley, before breaking down, blaming himself for Faye 's death. Willy invites the dignitaries to a theatrical play to be performed after the festival in Liberio. In a post-credits scene, before the play, Falco brings Reiner to a basement behind the stage to meet Kruger as per Kruger's request. Shaken, Reiner immediately recognizes him as Eren Jaeger.

5. Declaration of War
In a theatrical presentation, Willy tells the well-known story of Marley's hero Helos, who defeated the Eldian King Fritz, securing peace for Marley at the price of Eldians' freedom. Willy then reveals it was King Fritz himself who ended the Great Titan War by fabricating the Helos myth, as he longed for peace. Believing Eldians were sinners, Fritz moved hundreds of Eldians to Paradis, built the Walls, and passed his ideology down in his bloodline via his oath, keeping his successors bound to his renouncement of war, unable to use the Founding Titan. Fritz warned he'd release the millions of Colossal Titans in the Walls – a violent "Rumbling" that would end humanity – if Marley threatened them. Willy announces that the Founding Titan was stolen by Eren Jaeger, making him a threat to world peace as he is not bound by Fritz's oath, not being of Fritz' bloodline. In the basement, Eren tells Reiner that he infiltrated Marley to save his home and realized that Paradis and Marley are alike in that both sides are just people. Reiner breaks down, devastated about what he caused on Paradis four years prior. As Willy declares war on the Eldians of Paradis, Eren transforms into the Attack Titan, throwing Willy's mangled body into the air.

6. The War Hammer Titan
In a flashback, Willy discusses with Commander Magath the probability of an attack on him during the play, although he is prepared to become a martyr in support of his cause, believing all Eldians to be devils. In the present, Eren devours Willy and rampages, devastating the Marleyan military brass. Zofia and Udo die in the chaos, traumatizing Gabi. Willy's sister Lara Tybur transforms into the War Hammer Titan and overpowers Eren using her Titan's hardening ability. The Survey Corps arrive to give Eren backup, battling Marley's soldiers. Just as the War Hammer Titan prepares to kill Eren, Mikasa Ackerman attacks with developed Thunder Spears. Eren realizes that Lara's crystal-encased body is underground, connected by a long cord. He severs the cord but Porco's Jaw Titan attacks him. Levi Ackerman flies in just in time to slice the Jaw Titan's jaw joint, saving Eren and shocking Porco.

7. Assault
The Scouts come under attack from Pieck's Cart Titan carrying the Panzer Unit armed with machine guns. Zeke's Beast Titan arrives as Marleyan soldiers surround Liberio. Falco, who was protected from Eren by Reiner's partial transformation, reunites with Magath and Gabi. Eren transforms for the third time to escape the War Hammer's trap. Armin Arlert transforms into the Colossal Titan, destroying the Marleyan Navy and the port. Levi incapacitates the Beast Titan, dropping a grenade on his nape. Sasha, Jean and the others incapacitate Pieck and her Cart Titan. Hange arrives overhead in an airship to retrieve Eren and the Scouts. The Jaw Titan is dismembered by Mikasa and Eren, who has realized that while he can't break Lara's crystal, the Jaw Titan's powerful jaws can. He utilizes the Jaw Titan to shatter Lara's crystal and swallows her, gaining the powers of the War Hammer Titan. As Porco too is about to be eaten, Reiner reluctantly emerges as the Armored Titan to fight Eren.

8. Assassin's Bullet
Reiner does not battle Eren, focusing on protecting Porco. Eren escapes with Mikasa. Levi arrests Eren for infiltrating Marley on his own and forcing the Scouts to rescue him; at this point, Eren has all but ensured that the world will launch an attack on Paradis in response to his rampage. Gabi climbs aboard the airship with a rifle, chased by Falco, who has realized from Eren and Reiner that Paradis is simply responding to the devastation Marley caused them first by sending the Armored, Colossal, and Female Titan to the island. Gabi shoots Sasha. Pieck tells Magath that the soldier who had trapped her and Porco was Yelena, a member of the first scout ship sent to Paradis that went missing three years prior. Gabi and Falco are shocked to see Zeke, who appears to have switched sides. Zeke remarks on the success of bringing the Founder (Eren) and a Titan of royal blood (Zeke) together. Sasha dies, leaving the Scouts distraught. Jean reminds Eren that she would have lived if Eren had not involved the Scouts in this.

9. Brave Volunteers
Three years prior to Eren's raid in Liberio against Marley, the Scouts had captured the first Marleyan scout ship that came to Paradis. Crew-members Yelena, Onyankopon, and other Marleyan-conscripted deserters, called the "Anti-Marleyan Volunteers" after Marley destroyed their home nations in war, offered help, backing Zeke's plan to carry out the Rumbling in order to beat Marley. Over the next three years, they provided the Scouts the technology and knowledge of Marleyan guns and weaponry, helping them upgrade their own gear. The Scouts capture more Marleyan scout ships and recruit the Marleyan soldiers as labor to build docks for the island. In the present, the Scouts grieve Sasha, including Marleyan captive Nicolo, a chef who cooks for the Scouts. Commander Pyxis has the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers detained after the raid in suspicion. Armin reflects to the crystallized Annie on whether helping Eren in the raid was the right decision as war has now become inevitable, but acknowledges that they had no choice, as Marley would've otherwise attacked and beaten Paradis with their stronger forces. Gabi, Falco, and Eren are all imprisoned.

10. A Sound Argument
Two years ago on Zeke's advice, a special envoy of Hizuru, Kiyomi Azumabito, landed on the newly-completed docks of Paradis Island for negotiations. A tattoo on Mikasa's arm revealed that she is the descendant of Hizuru's ruling shogun. Lady Azumabito believed that Hizuru could help Paradis achieve Zeke's plan to use the Rumbling to protect the island, in return for the valuable Iceburst Stone – the mysterious Paradis substance and resource that powers ODM gear. She listed Zeke's propositions: to enact a test of the Rumbling, to strengthen and modernize the Paradis military, and for the Beast Titan to be passed down to someone of royal blood who would bear children, so it could be passed on every 13 years. Historia agreed to inherit the Beast Titan, though Eren vehemently rejected. However, Hizuru's help was rooted in greed, and a year later, they would not help Paradis negotiate trade with other nations, wanting to monopolize Paradis' resources. At that time, while working on the island's new railway, the Scouts were struggling with deciding on a strategy against Marley and the successor of Eren's Titan when his 13-year term ran out. In the present, Hange interrogates Eren for acting on his own but Eren reacts violently to her. Historia is shown to be pregnant and living with a farmer she knew from childhood. Jean and Connie believe Eren has gone rogue; Armin and Mikasa want to speak to Eren together to figure out his goals, and Armin proposes that the military could have Eren eaten by someone more trustworthy, especially since they have the Titan serum.

11. Impostors
Gabi kills her prison guard and escapes with Falco into the wilderness. They are found by a young girl named Kaya, who offers food and shelter at the Braus stables; Sasha's family. Lady Azumabito arrives with a Hizuru delegation and an aircraft powered by Iceburst Stone, which she describes as the "world's first flying boat". For leaking information about Eren's imprisonment to the press, Hange incarcerates four Survey Corps members including Floch and Louise. At the Braus stables, Kaya reveals that she knows Gabi and Falco are from Marley. She explains how her village was destroyed and her mother was eaten alive by a Titan four years ago, and questions why they should die for sins committed by Eldians hundreds of years ago; while Falco is understanding, Gabi remains hostile. Kaya informs them that they will be having dinner at Nicolo's restaurant, and as he is a Marleyan, he might be able to help Gabi and Falco return home. In a post-credits scene, the Marleyan military has realized that Zeke faked his death and sided with Paradis. As the new General, Magath informs the Warriors that in six months' time, the world plans to launch a global offensive against Paradis, but Reiner suggests they make a surprise attack right now before Zeke can come up with a defensive plan.

12. Guides
Armin is with Annie's crystal again and Hitch accuses him of having a crush. They see that the Paradis military has lost public trust and protests have begun over Eren's imprisonment. Yelena reveals to Commander Pyxis that ten months ago, she had secretly met with Eren before his infiltration of Marley. Onyankopon tells Hange how Yelena was fiercely loyal to Zeke in Marley. Mikasa and Armin meet with Premier Zachary to get permission to speak with Eren. Zachary denies them as he suspects Eren is being manipulated by Zeke. Right after they leave his office, a bomb kills Zachary and three other soldiers, which stirs up the protesters eager to fight for a New Eldian Empire. Eren escapes from prison and is met by Floch and the other allies who side with him. In the aftermath, the Military Police concede to the Survey Corps that their secret intentions were to take Eren's Founding Titan without informing the Survey Corps, causing the protestors to act out more. Hange states that Eren's supporters, dubbed the "Jaegerists", intend to reunite Eren and Zeke and reform the military with Eren as the leader. Pyxis, attempting to prevent infighting, suggests the military should make a deal with the Jaegerists using Zeke's location as a bargaining chip. Hange suspects Yelena and Zeke, and urges the Survey Corps to look into the Marleyan prisoners who obtained jobs through Yelena. The Braus family, along with Gabi and Falco, arrive at Nicolo's restaurant while Pieck is shown to have infiltrated Paradis.

13. Children of the Forest
In the forest, Zeke recounts to Levi that four years earlier, on Marley's orders, his spinal fluid was released in a gaseous form on the Ragako villagers on Paradis, where Connie's mother was from. It paralyzed them, and then Zeke turned them into Titans with his scream. Zeke claims he did it to maintain his cover, but Levi accuses him of not truly caring for the people he killed. In the restaurant, Kaya points Nicolo out to Gabi and Falco as the Marleyan who invited them, explaining that he was probably in love with Sasha. As the Survey Corps arrive to question him, Nicolo forcefully takes a bottle of Marleyan wine from Connie and Jean. He brings the wine to the cellar, where Gabi and Falco follow him, revealing themselves as Warrior Candidates. Nicolo deduces that Gabi killed Sasha and attempts to bludgeon her with the bottle, but Falco takes the hit, and some of the wine gets in his mouth. Nicolo punches Gabi out then carries both back to the dining room. He offers Mr. Braus a knife, saying either of them shall kill Gabi. The Survey Corps intervenes, and through Mr. Braus, the emotions are calmed. Connie and Jean restrain Nicolo, but Mikasa has to save Gabi from a furious Kaya. Gabi is escorted to another room by Mikasa and Armin, while Nicolo tells Hange to rinse Falco's mouth as he suspects the wine is tainted with Zeke's spinal fluid. He explains that the wine came from Yelena's scout ship, and was to be served to high government officials. Meanwhile, Levi receives word of Zachary's death and wonders if he miscalculated Eren's potential as humanity's savior. The Jaegerists raid the restaurant and hold everyone at gunpoint. Floch demands Zeke's location from Hange and reveals he knew about Zeke's plan with the wine. Eren meets with Mikasa, Armin and Gabi and states that he wants to talk.

14. Violence
At their round-table discussion, Eren claims he is acting on his own free will. As each Titan host is affected by the memories of its previous owner, Eren asserts that Armin is being manipulated into visiting Annie's crystal by Bertholdt's memories. Eren then reveals that Mikasa, through her Ackermann bloodline, has been programmed to protect Eldia's Kings, but she also accepted Eren as her host. He claims she is no more than a slave, for which he had hated her since childhood. Enraged, Armin attacks Eren, although he's first unwillingly stopped by Mikasa. Eren repeats that it is due to Mikasa's lineage. Armin punches Eren in the face, but Eren beats him easily, and insults him. Everyone in the restaurant except for Hange is taken to Shiganshina District by the Jaegerists where Eren plans to rejoin Zeke. In the forest, Levi plans to have Zeke eaten by a Jaegerist to prevent Eren from using the Founding Titan. Zeke runs from the camp and screams, turning Levi's comrades into Pure Titans due to the tainted wine they had drunk. Levi kills all the Titans and pursues Zeke, who transforms into the Beast Titan; using Thunder Spears, Levi recaptures Zeke. Floch turns the military cadets in Shiganshina to the Jaegerists' side by threatening them with imprisonment, forcing them to beat Commandant Keith Shadis. Zeke wakes up to find himself lying gravely injured in a cart, with Levi sitting beside him. He's informed by Levi that a Thunder Spear is impaled into his stomach, tied to the detonator around his neck. Levi starts chopping Zeke's legs; as Zeke screams in agony, he recalls a memory of his childhood.

15. Sole Salvation
As a child, Zeke was treated harshly by his parents, as Dina Fritz and Grisha saw him as a tool in their plans to restore Eldian society and overthrow Marley. One day, Zeke encountered Tom Xaver, the current holder of the Beast Titan, and over the years, they developed a close bond. Xaver eventually revealed to Zeke that he had managed to conceal his Eldian heritage when he was young and created a family for himself. However, when he revealed to his wife that he was an Eldian, she killed their son before committing suicide. When Zeke learned that his parents were Restorationists, he turned them over to the police at the urging of Xaver and to save himself from being turned into a Pure Titan. Zeke also realized that this was the best way for him to get into the Marleyan Military. Xaver told Zeke that his research revealed that the Founding Titan is able to manipulate the body of Eldians. They resolved to "save" the Eldian people from further persecution through sterilizing them using the Founding Titan. Later, Xaver also revealed how to get around King Fritz's vow renouncing war. Eventually, Zeke inherited the Beast Titan and promised to find a suitable person for their plan. After reuniting with Reiner and Bertholdt on Paradis, he learned that Eren Jaeger possessed the Founder. He deduced that Grisha Jaeger had managed to escape his punishment and vowed to rescue Eren from Grisha's brainwashing. In Liberio, Eren agreed to cooperate with Zeke's euthanization plan. As Zeke finishes reflecting on his past, his mumbling is heard by Levi. Zeke suddenly ignites the Thunder Spear impaled in his body, detonating it and catching himself and Levi in the explosion.

16. Heaven and Earth
Hange, Floch and a group of Jaegerists are heading towards the forest to find Zeke when they hear the explosion of the Thunder Spear and go to investigate. A female Pure Titan approaches the dying Zeke, tears open her abdomen and places him inside. At Shiganshina, Yelena and the Volunteers have Commander Pyxis and other military members rounded up since many among them drank from the tainted wine. The imprisoned Survey Corps members discuss escaping and Eren's recent actions when Yelena arrives to explain to them Zeke's true plan: a widespread Eldian sterilization to prevent the births of any more Eldians until the death of Historia's child, after which humanity will be free from the threat of Titans. In the meantime, they will use the threat of the Rumbling to prevent interference from other nations. Eren meets Gabi, ordering her to cooperate with him but is interrupted by Pieck who surprisingly offers to join the Jaegerists. She states that the Marleyans must be punished for their poor treatment of the Eldian people and agrees to sell out her compatriots. On the rooftop, Pieck's ruse is revealed as Porco's Jaw Titan emerges from below and attempts to eat Eren. Eren transforms into the Attack Titan, revealing his location to approaching Marleyan airships. General Magath orders his men to get revenge for Liberio, and Eren prepares to face Reiner once again.

17. Judgement
Hange and the Jaegerists discover Levi's body and find Zeke as he emerges from the dying Pure Titan fully healed, which Hange uses as a distraction to escape with Levi. Zeke explains to Floch that his massive wounds were treated by a mysterious girl in the mystical place called the Paths. Meanwhile at Shiganshina, Marleyan soldiers descend from their airships, and Pieck and Gabi reunite with Magath and Colt. Deducing from Zeke's words recited by Gabi, their objective is to not let Eren and Zeke make physical contact. Reiner and Porco battle Eren, but he overwhelms them using the War Hammer's power. The tide turns when Magath fires a new anti-Titan cannon at Eren from the Cart Titan's back on Wall Maria, incapacitating him and giving Reiner the chance to gain the upper hand. The Jaegerist soldiers suffer heavy losses from the Marleyan forces. In desperation, Onyankopon releases the imprisoned Survey Corps members along with Nicolo and the Braus family and asks for their help to defeat the Warriors. He convinces them that he was not part of the euthanization plan, but they debate whether they should help Eren and Zeke, possibly the only ones who can protect Paradis Island. Armin suggests that Eren lied to Mikasa and that he's just playing along with Zeke and Yelena, but the response is silence.

18. Sneak Attack
The freed Survey Corps eventually decide to help Eren, though Mikasa expresses her doubts about Eren's true motives. Meanwhile, the vicious battle of Eren against Reiner and Porco continues, with the Armored Titan eventually pinning down the Attack Titan, preparing to eat Eren. Suddenly, Zeke appears as the Beast Titan on top of Wall Maria and begins to attack the Marleyan airships, soldiers and Warriors. The Survey Corps force the Jaegerists to free Commandant Shadis and the jailed members of the Military Police and Garrison Regiment. Commander Pyxis offers to lead a group of soldiers who have drunk from the wine tainted with Zeke's spinal fluid to fend off the invaders. In preparation, Mikasa puts her scarf down, witnessed by a joyful Louise. Nile reunites Falco with Gabi and Colt who is armed with an anti-Titan rifle. In hiding, Gabi overhears the Braus family's words and finally realizes that there are no devils on the island, just people. Falco confesses his feelings for her, afraid that he could turn into a Titan any moment. This prompts Colt to rush them to Zeke, hoping to stop him from screaming. Pieck fakes the death of the Cart Titan, enabling Magath to fire a shot at the Beast Titan's nape with the anti-Titan cannon, gravely wounding Zeke and knocking him off the wall. As the Attack Titan limps towards the fallen Beast Titan, Reiner is urged to stop Eren from coming into contact with Zeke.

19. Two Brothers
The Jaw Titan tries to slow the Attack Titan down, but Eren severely injures Porco by smashing the Jaw's nape. He's interrupted by another cannon shot, but then Floch's group attacks and distracts the Cart. Reiner grapples with Eren and reaches out to Porco, which triggers Marcel's memory about Reiner inheriting the Armored Titan. Zeke survived Magath's sneak attack and prepares to use his scream. Colt pleads with Zeke not to do so until Falco is out of range, but Zeke regretfully screams anyway, turning everyone who drank the tainted wine into Pure Titans, including Nile and Pyxis. Colt is incinerated by Falco's transformation. Zeke orders Falco to eat Reiner, but Falco instead devours Porco, who offers himself to be eaten while still believing he is a better man than Reiner. Floch's group is defeated and the Beast Titan is shot in the nape again, seemingly killing Zeke. Suddenly, the Survey Corps attack the Cart and Armored Titans with Thunder Spears, clearing a path for Eren to exit his Titan and reach Zeke, who faked his death the same way Pieck did. However, Gabi uses Colt's rifle to decapitate Eren, whose head falls into Zeke's hand. Eren's consciousness is immediately transported to the Paths, where he meets an aged Zeke in chains, a representation of King Fritz's vow renouncing war. When a young girl who is the soul of the Founder Ymir approaches from the Coordinate, Eren declares he never meant to follow Zeke's plan and attempts to control her, but Zeke reveals that Ymir only follows the orders of those of royal blood. Having nullified the vow renouncing war while in the Paths, Zeke sheds his chains and shackles Eren. In another attempt to convince Eren to follow his euthanization plan and "fix" him with the Founder's power, he touches their heads together.

20. Memories of the Future
Using the Paths, Zeke shows Eren his life from birth through their father Grisha's memories, hoping to convince Eren that Grisha has brainwashed him. However, they discover that Grisha had instead forsaken his Eldian nationalism and allowed Eren to find his own path in life. Eren tells Zeke that he was mistaken to assume that they were the same, as Eren preserved his freedom he was born with while Zeke is unable to move past Grisha's dream. Undaunted, Zeke states that with the power of the Founding Titan, he can still carry out the euthanization plan. In the memory when Grisha offered Eren to show him the secrets of their basement, he's revealed to be talking to Eren's future self. Zeke and Eren then arrive at the moment when Grisha confronts the Reiss family. As Grisha pleads with Frieda Reiss to save Paradis with the Founding Titan, he reveals that the Attack Titan's ability is that the host can see the memories of its future inheritors. When Frieda refuses to help and cites King Fritz's ideology about how the Eldian people shall accept the world's punishment, Grisha decides to kill the Reiss family and take the Founding Titan for himself. However, he hesitates and realizes that he cannot bring himself to kill, especially not children. Eren intervenes by using his memories of the future to communicate with Grisha, goading him into slaughtering the Reiss family and causing the events of the past to play out as they were meant to. After stealing the Founding Titan, Grisha breaks down and sees Zeke, telling him that it will be Eren's plan that will come to pass. Grisha then expresses his regret to Zeke for not being a better father to him, visibly moving Zeke. When Grisha pleads with him to stop Eren, he's suddenly knocked out from Grisha's memories and both are brought back to the Paths.

21. From You, 2,000 Years Ago
Returning from Grisha's memories, Zeke is horrified to learn that Eren purposely pushed Grisha to acquire the Founder and manipulated his past to ensure the future he had foreseen when touching Historia. Zeke commands Ymir to enact the euthanization plan, but Eren rips free from his chains to rush after Ymir as she advances toward the Coordinate. In a flashback to 2,000 years earlier, Ymir lived in a small rural village which was invaded by Eldians, led by Fritz, who enslaved the inhabitants. The young Ymir is blamed for letting a pig escape, and is hunted for sport as punishment. While she is being hunted down, she enters an ancient tree and falls into a deep pool where a parasitic-looking entity turns her into the first Titan. Still treating her as a slave, Fritz uses Ymir's Founding Titan to destroy Marley's armies and expand the kingdom of Eldia. During this time, Fritz has three daughters with Ymir: Maria, Rose, and Shina. One day, Ymir sacrifices herself to save Fritz from a dissenter; Fritz orders his children to eat her body so their descendants can keep passing on the power of the Titans. Ymir's soul is transported into the Paths, where she spends the next 2,000 years making Titans by hand. Back in the present, Eren reaches Ymir and offers her the freedom to choose her future for the first time in her existence. Ignoring Zeke as the one of royal blood, she decides her future lies with Eren. Consequently, the Rumbling begins as the Walls collapse and the thousands of Colossal-like Wall Titans encased within it are released. Pieck, Magath and Floch tumble from Wall Maria while Reiner rushes to save Gabi. Though Armin is relieved that Eren was not on Zeke's side, he realizes every Wall Titan on Paradis was released when only a small group would've been enough to take down the global alliance. Eren, having transformed into his version of the Founding Titan, uses the Paths to telepathically announce to all Subjects of Ymir of his intention to use the Rumbling to exterminate all life beyond the island.

22. Thaw
Eren and the Wall Titans march off to trample the world outside of Paradis. Reiner and Gabi search for Falco, who was presumably carried away by Jean and Connie. Reiner was wounded while protecting Gabi from falling debris, as his Titan's armor also disappeared at the start of the Rumbling. He regrets his failure over halting Eren and urges Gabi to escape and warn everyone, but she points out that Eren must be stopped. Reiner states he has already given up, so he's left behind in a house. The Pure Titans created by Zeke run amok in Shiganshina. Armin, Mikasa, Jean and Connie discuss Eren's actions and an unconscious Falco's fate; a Titan's sudden attack allows Connie to escape with the boy, planning to feed him to his mother to make her human again. In the Titan-filled streets, Gabi saves Kaya from Nile's Titan, with the Braus family and Nicolo protecting her from the Survey Corps, mending the rift between them. Armin, Mikasa, Jean, and Shadis rally the remaining Jaegerists and Cadets. The soldiers lure all the Pure Titans towards the fort in the center of the district where they work together to finish off their former comrades, with Armin killing Pyxis' Titan. The battle ends with all Pure Titans and Marleyan soldiers killed, although the thrilled Louise is injured. Onyankopon and Yelena are baffled to witness the Rumbling. Floch is revealed to be alive as he arrives with an intention to punish the Volunteers. Mr. Braus takes Armin and Mikasa to Gabi, who is horrified to learn of Connie's plan and pleads with Armin to convince Eren that not everyone outside the island has to die. Upon learning that the Armored Titan's hardening came undone at the same time as the beginning of the Rumbling, Armin deduces that Eren commanded all Titan hardening be undone, implying that Annie's crystal is now also undone.

23. Sunset
As the Wall Titans walk off into the sunset, the people in Trost District argue about the cost in lives and devastation of Eren's strategy caused by the Rumbling. Hitch finds a weakened Annie who has been freed from her crystal and helps her escape from the Military Police. Annie tells Hitch that she no longer wants to fight and wishes to reunite with her adoptive father in Marley. Although he abused and brutally raised her to be a Warrior, he confessed regret at not treating her like a daughter. The Eldians in Liberio, led by Mr. Leonhart, try to convince the Marleyan guards about the impending Rumbling, but they refuse to listen, culminating in Leonhart picking up a fight. Back in Shiganshina, Shadis foresees the Jaegerists taking over the island. He expects himself to be purged, but advises the Cadets to follow them for now. Armin prepares to head out with Gabi to pursue Connie and Falco. He angrily chastises Mikasa for worrying about Eren, whom he sees as a lost cause, but then apologizes, mentioning that Erwin should have been revived instead of him. Mikasa then notices her scarf is gone. Meanwhile, Floch reveals to everyone that ten months ago, Eren explained his plan to him and that he's always known Eren will manipulate Zeke. Backed by the Jaegerists, he confronts the Volunteers with the reality that their only choice is to accept submission to the New Eldian Empire or death; he immediately shoots one of them dead as a show of force. Floch then tries to convince Mikasa and a shaken Jean to give up fighting and retire as heroes of Paradis, mentioning Hange and Levi's deaths. During the end credits, Falco is now awakened and has lost his memory of the recent battle, although he's uncomfortable about Connie as the two ride toward Ragako. In a post-credits scene outside the ruined Wall, Pieck and Magath discuss the Rumbling when they are approached by Hange with the gravely-injured Levi.

24. Pride
The last of the Wall Titans have left the sight of the walls as the civilians continue taking sides in Eren's course of action. After taking out the pursuing Jaegerists, Hange sets up camp in the forest and stitches up Levi's wounds. While wondering about living isolated in the woods, they receive Eren's message to the Eldians. Later, when Hange and Levi find Pieck and Magath, they offer to ally with them over Levi's goal of killing Zeke. Connie arrives with Falco in Ragako village, where he suggests an awkward task to Falco so he could eventually feed the boy to his immobile Titan mother. Being interrupted by Armin and Gabi, he takes Falco up to the Titan's mouth by force, but the despairing Armin jumps into it instead. He is saved by Connie, who changes his mind about his mother. They all return to Shiganshina where they happen to encounter Annie, who joins them, abandoning Hitch in the process. Meanwhile, Mikasa refuses to join the Jaegerists and recovers her scarf from Louise, whose injuries appear to be fatal. Floch prepares to have himself and Jean execute Yelena and Onyankopon for treason against the Eldian Empire. Onyankopon tries to convince the Jaegerists that massacring the world is insane, but is unsuccessful. He turns to Jean, who is about to shoot him but instead fires four shots into the ground. Answering this, Pieck's Cart Titan form suddenly appears and grabs Jean, Yelena, and Onyankopon in its mouth, taking them to Magath, Levi, and Hange, who have joined forces. At the same time, Jean's shots are also a signal to Mikasa and Connie's group to leave with supplies alongside Annie, Falco, and Gabi. As they leave, Annie notices someone in a window watching them. They then join up with Reiner in their mission to save the world.

25. Night of the End
Jean envisions a secure future and a happy life with his wife and child. He is brought out of his dream by Hange, who asks him and Mikasa to join the remaining Survey Corps and Marleyans to stop Eren's intended genocide. Though Jean initially pushes back on Hange's offer, he eventually agrees after being reminded of Marco. At their camp in the forest, Magath clashes with the Survey Corps about which side started the conflict and prompts a heated debate over who are the real "devils". Annie confronts Mikasa over whether she would be able to kill Eren if she cannot convince him to stop the Rumbling. They are about to fight over the matter but then agree to first try asking Eren. While the group eats Hange's stew, the flying boat comes up as an option to reach the Founding Titan, but Eren's destination is yet unknown. When Yelena insists she doesn't have a clue either, Magath and Pieck reveal that she is actually a Marleyan, having faked her background to join Zeke. Hearing this, Yelena counters by forcing Reiner, Annie, Armin, and Jean to confront their own actions they had committed under the idea of "saving the world", including how Reiner and Annie caused Marco to be eaten by Titans by forcibly removing his ODM gear, thus preventing the exposure of the Warriors. Furious at Reiner's self-pity over Marco's death, Jean savagely attacks and beats him, but the others intervene. Gabi pleads for Jean's help to save her family in Marley, but he storms off. The next morning, Jean returns and agrees to join their alliance. As they head towards the port in order to take the flying boat, he apologizes to Gabi; however, he admits that he is still unable to forgive Reiner. Pieck goes forward to scout, and they discover that the Jaegerists have control of the port and Floch has taken Kiyomi Azumabito hostage.

26. Traitor
Hange and Magath survey the occupied port, noticing that the flying boat is still intact -- and that the Jaegerists could destroy it any moment, as they have rigged it with explosives. An enormous amount of steam on the horizon indicates that the Wall Titans have already begun crossing the sea, so the group must act fast. It becomes clear that they need the Azumabito engineers to service the boat and prepare it for flight. However, this would mean defending the Azumabito from the Jaegerists, even by killing all of them. Connie protests against this plan, with Annie and Reiner concluding that the Survey Corps members should not battle their former comrades. Magath tortures Yelena to make her reveal Eren's destination, breaking her arm in the process; she considers talking if the group brings her with them. Having a change of heart, Magath apologizes for burdening the young with the past and asks the Survey Corps to temporarily overlook the bloodshed, but Armin refuses while believing in a peaceful solution. Floch and Kiyomi have a disagreement over the new world order when Armin and Connie ride to the port, announcing to Floch that the Marleyans have escaped by sea, and that they need the flying boat to pursue them. They find it ready to be destroyed, with Samuel and Daz standing guard for the detonator. While initially suspicious of Armin and Connie, the two are eventually convinced to disarm the explosives. Floch remains doubtful and attempts to kill the remaining engineers, but is temporarily subdued by Kiyomi just as Mikasa breaks into the building to save them. Floch escapes outside and announces Mikasa, Armin, and Connie to be traitors. Jean, Hange, and Magath manage to take the Azumabito into the basement for safety. An all-out battle ensues, with Reiner and Annie arriving and transforming into their Titan forms to attack the Jaegerists. On the dock, Armin tries to stop Daz from re-arming the explosives, only to be shot by Samuel. Connie and Armin wrestle with them to prevent the boat's destruction, with Connie eventually shooting and killing Daz and Samuel. Armin recalls Bertholdt crying about how someone must stain their hands with blood.

27. Retrospective
The engineers inform Hange's group that it will take at least half a day to get the flying boat ready. They realize that it will be too late to save Liberio at the Wall Titans' pace. Kiyomi suggests they can leave by ship and take the boat to the Marleyan coastland city of Odiha, where the Azumabito own a hangar. Magath rushes Kiyomi and the engineers to the dock while Annie and Reiner use their Titans to protect them, along with the ship from Floch and the Jaegerists. Mikasa, Hange, Jean and Connie help to fight off their opponents. Seeing the Titans struggling, Falco makes up his mind to fight. Pieck joins the fray after delivering Levi, Gabi, Yelena and Onyankopon to Magath. Hange spots a train of Jaegerist reinforcements approaching, but it suddenly explodes and derails. Falco charges into the chaos and transforms into the Jaw Titan. Managing to barrel through the fight, Floch attempts to destroy the ship's hull with a Thunder Spear but is shot down by Gabi and falls into the sea. Falco eventually loses control of his Titan form and attempts to eat Pieck, but Magath manages to extract him from his Titan. Noticing a captured Marleyan cruiser at the shore, Magath decides to remain behind to destroy it and runs into Commandant Keith Shadis, who had followed them to the port and is revealed to have sabotaged the train. The two men exchange words of mutual respect then use the ship's armory to blow up the cruiser, sacrificing their own lives to ensure the others can sail off to Odiha. In a post-credits scene on the ship, Hange informs the group that Marley and Liberio cannot be saved, much to Annie's distress. After being convinced to stay, Annie once again questions Mikasa on whether she can let Eren be killed to stop the Rumbling, admitting that she is tired of all the violence.

28. The Dawn of Humanity
Months before the assault on Liberio, the Scouts arrived on the Marley shoreline. On their way to visit Azumabito at her home, they witness the persecution received by Subjects of Ymir firsthand after rescuing a young thief named Ramzi from a mob of hostile Marleyans. Azumabito informs the group that Marley has begun cracking down on Subjects of Ymir who escape their internment camps through use of blood tests. Hange hopes to forge peace by allying with the Subjects of Ymir Protection Group. Discovering that Eren has gone missing, Mikasa tracks him down to Ramzi's home. Eren questions Mikasa's loyalty to him, asking what he means to her, to which she is taken aback and calls him her family. The rest of the group catches up and they spend the night partying with Ramzi's family. The next day at the Protection Group's assembly, the representative of the Protection Group declares that Subjects of Ymir who don't view themselves as Eldian should be freed, while the "devils" of Paradis should be exterminated, which receives cheers from the audience. Eren departs and doesn't contact the Scouts again until the assault on Liberio. Mikasa ruminates on that time and wonders if things could have turned out differently had other choices been made. Flashbacks reveal Eren meeting Yelena and agreeing to follow Zeke's euthanasia plan while actually informing Floch and Historia of his real plans; while the latter initially opposes him, she chooses to become pregnant to extend her and Zeke's lifetime, indirectly aiding Eren. Zeke tells Eren that Ackermans are not compelled by blood to protect a "host", and that Mikasa is devoted to him simply because she loves him. Eren tells Zeke that he wants his friends to live long, happy lives after his death. In the present, the Global Alliance makes a futile attempt with their navy to stop Eren and the Rumbling from reaching Marley. They are easily destroyed by the Titans, and Eren declares his intention to destroy the world outside of Paradis as he and the Wall Titans set foot on the mainland.

29. Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters (Part One)
Chapter 1 – The Rumbling: The Rumbling continues, with the Colossal Titans killing countless people -- Ramzi, Halil, and Grisha's parents among them -- and destroying civilizations all over the world. Meanwhile, the ship carrying the scouts and warriors arrive at Odiha. Thinking her father is already dead, Annie decides to stay behind on the ship with Gabi, Falco, Yelena, and the Azumabito, while the remaining Warriors, Scouts, and Onyankopon take the flying boat to stop Eren. The next day, just as the group are about to take off, Floch, having survived the battle at the port, damages the fuel tank of the flying boat before being killed by Mikasa. However, before the flying boat can be properly repaired, the Rumbling arrives. Hange appoints Armin as the next commander of the Survey Corps before going up against the Colossal Titans alone, buying the others just enough time to get the aircraft off the ground. Hange is eventually killed by the body heat of the Wall Titans and is welcomed to the afterlife by Erwin, Moblit, and the other deceased Scouts. They assure Hange that her duty as commander has been fulfilled. Chapter 2 – Sinners: En route to Eren, the scouts and warriors discuss plans to confront him, with Armin still believing in a peaceful resolution. During their conversation, Eren suddenly brings them into the Paths dimension, explaining that in order to stop the Rumbling, they must kill him. He further elaborates that he will not take away their freedom to do so, just as he has the freedom to keep moving forward with it. Back on the ship, Falco reveals to Annie that he dreamt his Titan might have the ability to fly. Many refugees from Liberio, including the Warriors' families, escape to Fort Salta, a Marleyan military base. As they arrive, they see a number of airships launching an assault on Eren and the Wall Titans. However, the airships are quickly destroyed by the Beast Titan, which had materialized on Eren's skeletal form, leaving everyone utterly hopeless. Just then, the flying boat arrives and the Scouts and Warriors jump from the aircraft. Pieck and Reiner transform, with the latter managing to pin the Beast Titan down. Armin calls out to Eren, asking what about him is truly free.

30. Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters (Part Two)
Chapter 3 – The Battle of Heaven and Earth: The Scouts and Warriors land on Eren's rib cage and incapacitate the Beast Titan, but quickly realize that it is just a shell with Zeke himself nowhere to be found. Before Armin has a chance to transform, he is captured in a Titan's mouth. Suddenly, countless versions of the Nine Titans of the past appear on Eren's back, created by Ymir Fritz to defend him. Just as the Scouts and Warriors are nearly defeated, Annie and Gabi appear on the back of Falco's new flying Jaw Titan. Meanwhile, Armin discovers Zeke in the Paths. Chapter 4 – A Long Dream: Armin and Zeke have a conversation about the meaning of life, and Armin convinces Zeke to share his viewpoint. The two call on the deceased Titan shifters throughout the series to help the alliance; Zeke then materializes on Eren's Titan and allows Levi to kill him, stopping the Rumbling. After Armin is rescued, he uses the power of his Colossal Titan to destroy Eren's Founding Titan, releasing the centipede-like organism, the source of all Titan power, from Eren's nape. Falco flies down to the Liberio refugees, but the reunion between the Warriors and their families is cut short when the source turns the nearby Eldians, including Jean, Connie, and Gabi, into Titans to help defend it. Reiner, Annie, and Pieck engage the Titans and the source to prevent it from reconnecting with Eren, who transforms into the Founding Titan once again to fight Armin; this leaves Mikasa and Levi as the only ones left who can take Eren down. Jumping off of Falco's back, Levi uses a Thunder Spear to destroy Eren's Titan's front teeth, exposing his human form within, before Mikasa rushes in and beheads Eren. Ymir is subsequently freed from the Paths, allowing her to pass on, and the Titan powers, along with the source, disappear from the world. All Eldians are permanently turned back into humans. Final Chapter – Toward the Tree on That Hill: After Eren's death, a conversation between Armin and Eren is shown where Eren talks about why he treated Armin and Mikasa badly earlier, the effect his possession of both the Founding and Attack titan had on his mind, the revelation that eighty percent of the world's population will be wiped out by the end of the Rumbling, and his realization that it was impossible for him to avoid doing the Rumbling. After repeatedly trying to find a way to avoid the Rumbling, Eren decided to go along with it to protect his friends and ensure their statuses would be elevated to the saviors of humanity in the rest of the world, alongside giving them the long, fulfilling lives he wanted them to have in a world free of Titans. As it ends, it is revealed that the conversation had taken place much earlier but Armin's memories of it were suppressed by Eren until Eren's death, and that Eren did the same with the rest of his former friends. After mourning their friend, Armin decides to take credit for killing Eren so as to cover for Mikasa leaving to bury Eren's head on Paradis, and the Scouts and Warriors are hailed as heroes by the survivors of the Rumbling. Three years later, with eighty percent of humanity decimated, the Jaegerists become the dominant faction of Paradis' military and prepare for a potential future attack from the rest of the world, while the remaining Scouts and Warriors become the world's ambassadors for peace negotiations with Paradis. Mikasa, who had buried Eren's head under a tree that he would frequently rest under as a child (the same tree the show starts near), continues to visit his grave throughout the rest of her life. Many generations pass peacefully before a futuristic Paradis is bombed from above and destroyed in a war. Over time, Paradis is reclaimed by the wilderness, and within this wilderness a lone boy and his dog approach the tree Eren is buried beneath, which has since grown to resemble the original tree that contained the source of the Titans' power.
