Plot summary
Roger and Brianna are reunited in Wilmington and exchange handfasting vows, but she learns that he knew that her parents would die and did not tell her, and pushes him away, telling him to return to the 1980s. Claire and Jamie are introduced to George Washington, and Jamie is alerted to an ambush set for Murtagh and his fellow insurgents. Claire performs emergency surgery on Edmund Fanning while Jamie secretly sends Fergus to warn Murtagh. Brianna encounters Stephen Bonnet and recognizes the wedding ring he is holding is Claire's; Bonnet rapes her as payment for the ring.
